Hey folks. I have been running a campaign in FG for a little while now. I just switched my internet service and got a new wireless router. My internet speeds are very quick. However, FG is now broken.

I have assigned a static IP to the PC I am using to host FG using these instructions.

https://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-windows-10.htm
https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=140732

I confirmed the static IP assignment by logging into my router. I see it has the IP address that I assigned.

My DNS server was the same as my default gateway.

I then forwarded the ports from my router to my PC using the following instructions.

https://portforward.com/linksys/wrt3200acm/

I can see that the ports are assigned to the right IP address of the PC I am trying to use to host FG.

I then checked my Windows Firewall settings. They are set to according to this post:

https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/faq.php?faq=networking

In fact, I hadn't changed these settings from when I successfully hosted FG before.

I went to...

https://www.canyouseeme.org/

... and port 1802 can not be seen.

I went into FG and ran a connection test that failed.

Please advise. I will also be in the FG Discord #general text chat.

Sometimes my internal ip gets changed... 192.186.0.10 to .12 or .14 or something.

I load the FG launcher and check my iPhone there and update the forwarding rules in my firewall/router and it works again.

Thanks for checking John. I did successfully assign a static IP. I just checked it on the Router's app on my phone. It is what I assigned it as.

Another thing to check is whether Windows Firewall has blocked network access (or whichever security software you use). You can test this quickly without worrying about the physical network connection by starting a campaign using one instance of FG; then starting a second instance of FG and connecting to "localhost" as the server name. If the network is blocked by security software, then this connection will fail.

OK. I got that working. Second instance of FG connected to the server.

Type tracert 8.8.8.8 in a command prompt window and report the results here.

Check that your computer shows your network as Home/Private and check that FantasyGrounds.exe is allowed by your security/AV applications to access the network.

OK. I found that my network was set to public. I changed that to private.

The 'can you see me' site still shows 1802 fails to connect. It also shows a test failure in FG.

Just turned off Windows Firewall. Open port check failed. FG test failed as well. So it shouldn't be that.

Just checked the static IP of the PC on the app for the router on my iPhone. That is assigned correctly.

The first two lines of this show that you have two routers between you and the internet - 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1.

You'll need to access 192.168.0.1 and port forward TCP 1802 to 192.168.1.1, then access 192.168.1.1 and port forward TCP 1802 to your GM computer.

Yep. That makes sense. I'll have to talk to my ISP about setting that up. They don't provide admin access to their modem... at least as far as I know.

Thanks for helping identify the issue here. I greatly appreciate it.

If you can actually see what the modem is, many of the ISPs don't change the modem's default password, and you can google the modem brand and model to get the default password (if it's not "admin"). Doesn't hurt to try :)

That fixed it. Called the ISP. They forwarded the ports. FG tests are now showing a connection. Thanks again!
