Hi all.

After many years of playing characters in D&D, I recently started GMing and find it a lot of fun.

I have always wanted to play in a long running high tech campaign which is a mix of
1. Shadow Run without much of the magic or elves/dwarves whatnot
2. Traveller but less deadly because the system is very nasty on damage.

I think SW would be a great way to implement it.

So first I have a question. Do you know of, or play in such a game ? If so I would love to sit in and learn how its done well. Or perhaps even play in the campaign.

Second are you at all interested in such a beast ?

While I have quite a bit on my plate at present I think I can handle another regular campaign. Its the timing and the details that often vex things like this. But before we get into that I thought I would throw this out and see if there is

any interest
any suggestions
and as always karma err bennies

thanks
best
DP

Not having played either this might not be enough, but interface zero 2.0 might suit your needs

Interface zero would be useful for this as well as the sci fi companion or a combination of both

The extension for either the sci fi companion or Interface Zero would be useful because you would have the strain listed on your character sheets so it make it easier to be tracked and with the modules you would have easy access to more weapons, armor ect... without having to make them.

Looking at Slipstream as well, maybe a bit more of a Traveller bent but worth at least a mention.

I saw a video last night about SW and they mentioned a guy who was in the process of porting Shadowrun into SW. I will try and contact him. Who knows maybe he is a part of the community here ? When talking they did mention R20 so maybe I will find him "overthere". Anyway appreciate the thought Hendell, rep for you

Slipstream is probably more Flash Gordon / Buck Rogers in leaning - like an action adventure serial that isn't too worried about the background science as long as the rocket ship roar into space.

The Science Fiction Companion will handle most of the tech. The core rules has plenty of spells to cast, so the bulk of the magic is baked in. I think that the extra spells and darker vision of how bad things should be handled that you can find in the Horror Companion might lend themselves to providing a Shadow Run feel.

Here is the table of contents from the Science Fiction Companion:

Chapter One: Characters ....................3

I suspect that Interface Zero goes into a lot more depth for hacking and cyberware, but it also carries the burden of a setting while the companions are very generic.

Here's the channel with the Shadowrun adaptation you mentioned. The guy who runs it is really helpful, I am sure he'd be happy to talk savage shadowrun with you

Played in a Savage Worlds Shadowrun one shot (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?34803-Shadowrun-Savaged!-One-Shot-LFG-3-5-Players-9PM-CST-Saturday-11-5) last fall. It worked quite well, I thought, but I don't know if the GM has done anything else with it since.

You may want to take a look at "The Last Parsec" setting using the SciFi companion.

Another vote for Interface Zero 2.0. It's a great setting and contains a section on the colonization of the Solar System if you want to take your game into space. I've heard they are supposed to release a supplement that goes into more depth about the solar system but I haven't seen it yet.
