***Looking for Players***

Looking for players for the Two-Headed Serpent campaign for Pulp Cthulhu.

UK evenings, day to be confirmed.

Ideally I'd like to run it text based, but could be persuaded to run with voice.

Hey there! I got your message on the other thread. I have never played Cthulhu, or even read much about it. If you're happy to deal with a complete novice in the game, I am up for giving it a go!

CrazyGoblinoid
April 15th, 2017, 18:56
More than happy!

Humm I would be 6 hours behind your time. What days and how often are you thinking about running this?

vodokar
April 16th, 2017, 02:23
I would be very interested in this, but, depends on day and time. The time difference is not necessarily a problem, as I'm a vampire IRL (actually just an insomniac, lol), as anyone every reading any of my posts can attest that I'm often online late at night.

CrazyGoblinoid
April 16th, 2017, 08:31
I'd like to run weekly. Friday is probably my first choice, all up for discussion however.

Daxx
April 16th, 2017, 08:33
Hi there,

I've never played a Cthulhu game (apart from the board games), but have always wanted to. Depending on the day, myself & my girlfriend might be interested if you'd be willing to have another pair of novices on your hands.

Daxx

Edit: Ah damn. Sadly I wouldn't be able to do Fridays (I just joined a Friday game). If you guys settle on a Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday game, the above will apply.

I can also throw a Sunday (or possibly a Saturday) morning into the mix.

I'm more than happy with novices :)

Daxx
April 16th, 2017, 08:52
I tend to work most weekends (at least one day of the two) so if it was a Sunday, it'd have to be after 4pm for myself to be able to play.

CrazyGoblinoid
April 16th, 2017, 08:57
So at the moment Wednesday would get the most, which is doable my end.

Is a text based campaign ok with everyone, or would voice be preferred?

Daxx
April 16th, 2017, 09:01
I'd probably prefer voice (can't really do voices other than my own though), but that's just because I'm prone to typos. Though I'd be fine with either really.

CrazyGoblinoid
April 16th, 2017, 09:07
OK. I'll stick with provisionally Wednesday and update the calendar entry accordingly.

Text v voice can be discussed once players are confirmed.

Whilst slower, text can give a more immersive game (imo) especially when playing PCs of the opposite sex.

Hi, I'm the other interested person Daxx mentioned. We've both applied on the calendar.

CrazyGoblinoid

Both accepted on the calendar!

I quite like the idea of a text campaign, TBH. I'm doing voice just now on another, so it'd be good to try something different.

Aztecace
April 16th, 2017, 18:28
I could do Wednesday but only every other week.

CrazyGoblinoid
April 16th, 2017, 18:33
Shall we start with text and see how it goes, we can change to voice if it doesn't seem to be working out?

I'd prefer to play weekly as it's quite a lengthy campaign.

Maasq
April 16th, 2017, 18:40
Weekly from 7pm is a bit heavy commitment wise for me; I have two primary age kids that need feeding/showering/delousing/homework/cuddled/told off. Once a fortnight would work, or from 8pm weekly. Sorry to be a pain! Wednesday night is good with me.

CrazyGoblinoid
April 16th, 2017, 18:46
Let's look at options.

If we go weekly at 8pm what would do be the finish time?
What would the preferred start and end time be on a fortnightly basis?

Daxx
April 16th, 2017, 20:24
If we're doing an 8pm start, I'd assume we'd be finishing about midnight? (so we'd get in a 4hr session)

I could go to a 1am finish at the latest. (5hr session)

Hi! I'm fairly well experienced with CoC, and 1920-30's pulp/noir. However, I am completely new to playing in FG. I'm really interested in playing, but I'm 7 hours behind you. My available schedule most weeks will be Fri from 20:00 MST to Sun 20:00 MST. I do have a rotating Sat workday once a month, on those weeks I will be available Sat 20:00MST to Sun 20:00MST.

Maasq
April 16th, 2017, 21:15
8pm to midnight sounds about right for me too.

CrazyGoblinoid
April 16th, 2017, 22:39
Hi Quantummystic, unfortunately it's not currently looking like the weekend is viable.

So weekly starting at 8 is looking good. I'll change the time on the calendar accordingly.

I'll aim to finish between 11 and midnight depending on where we are, as I'll definitely not want to go past 12 as I'm up at 6 for work.

Maasq
April 16th, 2017, 23:50
Perfect. I'm the same, early rise, so midnight curfew for us cinderella types :)
Starting this Wed? Will it be a session zero, character creation & background type of thing?

EDIT: I just noticed the calendar page answering these questions :)
Hopefully we'll get another couple by then too!

Just my luck, my wednesdays are taken with another game already. Wednesday seems to always be the most popular day of the week for Fantasy Grounds. Have fun guys.

Springroll

I'd love to join if there's still room for one more. I'm in GMT+2 so the time in the calendar works for me.
I've played Basic Roleplaying but not Cthulhu before but I'm experienced with FG and have been waiting to join a game like this (I usually GM only so to be able to play for once would be nice :)).

CrazyGoblinoid
April 17th, 2017, 09:29
Sorry vodokar.

Happy to have you Springroll.

Yes, this Wednesday will be session zero. I'll hopefully have the server up most of the day so people can read through rules and play around with the ruleset. Character generation will start from 8pm (UK).

If anyone would like to have a read of some Lovecraft stories, this link (https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/147987/getting-started-cthulhu-mythos) is a god starting point.

For stories with a Pulp vibe then Herbet West (https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Herbert_West:_Reanimator/full), Dunwich Horror (https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Dunwich_Horror/full), Horror at Red Hook (https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Horror_at_Red_Hook/full) and The Lurking Fear (https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Lurking_Fear).

@CrazyGoblinoid, what version of the rules do we use? I have both 6th and 7th in FG so I'm good to go :)

CrazyGoblinoid
April 17th, 2017, 15:36
I'll be using Pulp Cthulhu, a supplement of CoC 7e. No one needs a ruleset as you will have access to mine when you connect.

I'm hoping to have the character generation part of Pulp Cthulhu in FG by Wednesday, as it's different to the core rules.

Something for you to ponder on over the next couple of days:

The year is 1933. In South America, the Chaco War between Bolivia and Paraguay is in full swing. The two countries are fighting over contested territory, which is believed to be rich in oil. You’ve been employed by a humanitarian charity, the Caduceus Foundation, to deliver medical aid to civilians caught up in the war. Caduceus has flown you to Asuncion in Paraguay, from where you traveled across country by various means. You are escorting doctors, nurses, and medical supplies to an aid camp deep in the jungle of the Gran Chaco.
As well as needing medically trained staff, this mission also requires adventurous types trained in wilderness and jungle survival, anthropologists, and linguists. This is a Pulp Cthulhu adventure, so expect high action and create your heroes appropriately. The truth is that the Caduceus Foundation is a front for an organization whose real agenda is to battle elements of the Cthulhu Mythos, but your characters don’t know that yet. They are just heroes who have decided to extend help those in need. But don’t worry, your team leader has the full story and will fill you in on the real mission when the game begins.

Archetypes available:

Adventurer, Beefcake, Bon Vivant, Cold Blooded, Dreamer, Egghead, Explorer, Femme Fatale, Grease Monkey, Hard Boiled, Harlequin, Hunter, Mystic, Outsider, Rogue, Scholar, Seeker, Sidekick, Steadfast, Swashbuckler, Thrill seeker and Two-Fisted

Any objection to using discord for game organisation (and possibly voice should we go that way)? Or do you want to keep it within the FG forums/calendar?

Hi Delm74, happy to have you along.

The server is up and should remain up until we start at 8 (UK).

Maasq
April 19th, 2017, 18:19
Crazy, something has come up and I'll not be able to play tonight, I'm really sorry. I'll withdraw rather than hold everyone up.

CrazyGoblinoid
April 19th, 2017, 18:46
By withdraw, do you mean from the campaign? No reason to do that, we can sort out a character before the next session.

Maasq
April 19th, 2017, 19:26
Of course, I was forgetting this is session zero - I'm an idiot. I did withdraw, but I will reapply right now and thanks for pointing it out.
I'm not always this jelly headed, promise!

CrazyGoblinoid
April 19th, 2017, 19:33
No problem!

I can have the server up in the week and go through character generation with you.

Wind Serpent

How about tomorrow (Friday) night?

Sunday 8 UK would also work for me.

Wind Serpent
April 20th, 2017, 19:07
Can you perhaps tell us what the other players are playing, so we can decide on something that would fit in well with the group?

CrazyGoblinoid
April 20th, 2017, 19:14
Sure. We have an Archaeologist (Adventurer), a Student (Thrill Seeker), a Beat Cop, a Doctor of Medicine (Scholar) and an Aviator.

Maasq
April 20th, 2017, 19:40
It's worth pointing out that the Aviator has never played CoC, and may be more dangerous to the party than any creatures the GM (Keeper?) throw at us!
He is handsome though. So is the character.

Hey there, are you still running / looking for players...?

I am male, 38 years old, soon to be 39. I have played rpg's for around 20+ years and mostly Dungeons and Dragons. I have dabbled in others like pathfinder, rifts, warhammer rpg and wh40k rpg.

I have played 6th edition CoC previously but no other edition. I love CoC setting and an am also in BST/GMT time zone.

I would love to get back into some Cthulhu related rpg.

Please let me know.

Many thanks

Shane
