View Full Version : Mac OSX Testers needed

Method 1: (New as of 4-16-2017)
Zeus put together a more standard DMG file. There still may be a problem with it being unsigned that requires you to temporarily allow apps to be installed from Anywhere. We are looking into the requirements and steps needed to sign the document digitally.

https://www.fantasygrounds.com/filelibrary/Fantasy%20Grounds.dmg

*Note: When you open the app, CTRL+Click on it. You may see a warning that the application is unsigned, but the CTRL+Click will provide an option to Open Anyway.

https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18581&d=1492363914

Method 2:
Our very own Zeus has put together a new, simpler installer for Mac OSX users that doesn't require WINE. Just download the file linked below and unzip it into your Applications folder. Enter your license key and username and run the update to complete the installation.

Download Link:
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/filelibrary/Fantasy%20Grounds.app.zip

Instructions from Zeus:
After downloading and unzipping the archive, users will need to:
1. Move the unzipped file to the /Applications or /Users/<username>/Applications folder
2. Launch the FG Client and click Settings to update license information and registered DLC - Note: Users may also want to change the app data path to point to /Users/Library/Application Support/FantasyGrounds as the default points to the Application Data folder inside the wrapper

Been so long since I installed this on my macbook.

Coincidentally, I was about to go out in the backyard after cleared some things so could hang with boy and was going to continue working on an adventure I was converting to FG.
I'll try installing it first.

Any problems having both versions installed?
Secondly, I am not knowledgeable about Wine (either interpretation, really) - I recall seeing that Steam installed the client in some "faux" directory relating to Wine and that it did the Wine stuff since I knew naught of it.

How does this new installer get the Win binary to work under MacOS? If it isn't using Wine, what is it doing? You mention it is a new INSTALLER not a new "native" Mac binary.

Will be testing either way ;) just curious.

Does it present a conflict if FG is already installed with Wine?

If not, I am more than happy to try it.

ddavison
April 14th, 2017, 21:00
It still uses Wine. It is in effect a new pre-wrapped WINE installation. It shouldn't prevent a conflict with any other installation as long as it doesn't use the same name.

Ok, so I borrowed my wife's MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011) running OS X Yosemite (ver 10.10.5) and this is what the process is like for me;

1) Downloaded OK
2) Clicking zip file give me a security message saying it can not install from an unidentified developer unless I change security settings
a) Apple > System Preferences > Security & Privacy
b) Click the Lock to make changes, enter password
c) Change apps Allow from Anywhere, accept appropriate prompts
Note, "Open Anyway" for the message about Fantasy Grounds did not appear to work
3) Click Fantasy Grounds.exe, confirm Open
4) FG launch screen shows
5) Go to Settings, enter license key, username & password
6) Run Update
7) Created New 5E campaign

Observations
- FG compatibility mode for Mac and Linux was checked automatically, I left it that way
- Install appeared to happen quickly/instantly. Maybe this was the Open Anyway worked and I just didn't know it?
- no problem with 3D dice roll, performance seemed perfect/as designed
- Window Maximize seemed to (mostly) work, task bar or whatever its called was still on top
- internal windows (like Images & Maps) I could not get to close when app maximized
- exiting launcher screen took a bit, use RMB quit on icon

Anything else you want me to test?

Now, can I uninstall it like a regular application or is there something I need to do?

I had similar problems with the unsigned code warning. Also could not run it from the Downloads folder due to a read-only error writing to a plist. Had to move it to Applications, after which that worked out fine. License, downloads, updates, etc. all worked as expected.

I like the fact that I can launch it outside of the Steam shell. Other than that still wishing for a native client; WINE is pretty awful.

You will get that - but not until Unity - and Unity will be here when its here and not sooner :)

Welcome to FG and the community! Thanks for posting your feedback to.

As Damned implied, FG is being re-written into a new architecture using the Unity platform. There is no timeline for it's release yet, hopefully this year or next. But, they do keep making improvements to the current architecture while they are working on the future. You can search the forums for Unity to get more info.

I have tested this Mac OSX installation and here are my findings:

Mac Stats:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Processor:3.1 GHz Intel Core i7
RAM:16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Graphics:Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
OSX Sierra version:10.12.4

After downloading and unzipping then moving it to the "Applications" folder I tried to open it.

At first I received an error saying that I could not open the application because "the identity of developer cannot be verified". In order to get passed this I took the following steps:

1. Went to "system preferences"
2.Went to "security & privacy"
3. Where it said "Allow apps downloaded from" Apple had "App store and identified developers only" selected by default. Also, Fantasy Grounds was listed below that with a button that offered to"open it anyway". After unlocking the little lock in the bottom left corner of the screen that allows me to "make changes" as an administrator, I clicked the button to "Open FG Anyway" and that allowed Fantasy Grounds to launch.

Everything appears to be working well after entering my license to activate the application. The only thing I am trying to sort out is how to get FG to fill the screen. So far it isn't quite filling the screen on my mac. (Edit*** I figured out the full screen issue, You just have to select "Window > Zoom" and it goes to full screen on the mac.)

Thanks for this though! I am glad I can play this on the Mac OS. I actually set up Bootcamp with Windows on my Mac mainly for the purpose of playing Fantasy Grounds on my laptop after failing to get it working on my own before seeing this thread.:)

We are looking into a DMG version and into signing a copy so that you won't have to see the security warnings.

To fill your whole screen, we don't recommend using the Maximize button, but instead just restoring back to a windowed view and then dragging the screen dimensions to fill the full window (or multiple screens in a two-screen layout.) This is actually how I recommend doing it on Windows as well.

I added a new method that Zeus put together for us. That might be a little easier.

I'm not much of a Mac guy, but I can do most basic tasks on the Mac but I'm hardly an expert.

I've got an old Macbook that is still running Snow Leopard and I thought I'd give this a whirl. I had previously installed FG a while ago using the WINE wrapper, but never actually tried to play a FG session on it since my gaming machines are Windows. Doing the previous install was a bit of a pain but it worked fine when I followed the instructions and just stepped through them all carefully.

The new install is fantastic. Downloaded it, unzipped, moved to Applications, bang and done. I loaded up my Ultimate key and library today and did a test run as a GM during my weekly gaming session. Looked great from an install perspective.

I did have some strange issues during testing which I'm not sure were issues with the old mac(the windows clients were losing connection to my mac upon occasion), or with my unfamiliarity with the OS, or which were due to the fact that it's running in a wrapper (I couldn't see how to resize the screen from the default small window, and if I maximized the app the click targets were displaced from the buttons by quite a few pixels). But on the whole my issues were not install related, so a big thumbs up from my perspective.

ddavison
April 17th, 2017, 13:36
Thanks Gaglug,

To expand the window, you should be able to drag from the bottom right corner to fill the screen. I would be interested to know if the mouse alignment was still off when using that method. I think that issue showed up for someone previously and there was a fix for it - I just need to research it a bit more.

Doug, you can get around the Bootstrap issue by paying for a Apple developers license.

I'll try this out in a day or so. When I ran Fantasy Grounds in OSX from Steam Client (launching the Wine installer), it was very slow, especially with multiple modules loaded like PHB, DMG, MM, LMoP and a few others which contain extra classes/races. I installed Wineskin and then emulated the Windows Steam Client (onto OSX) and it was noticeably faster but still rough around the edges. When running my Bootcamp Windows through VMware Fusion, it was better still (emulating Windows which now ran the native Windows Steam Client running the Windows version of FG) but the best, night and day difference was running native Windows and now I can load 10+ modules without impact.

All senarios was on the exact same laptop and the exact same Windows version. It just depends on how I 'launch' or 'boot' Windows or other software depends on whether I can copy/paste back and forth between OSX and Windows, or gain full hardware performance (losing the Mac interactions).

Sorry Dave, I've been getting home late from work + tax time + PT at night...

Finally got to try it. It installed in a JIFFY and started up fine!
Tomorrow will test it as a client to my Ultimate edition then will register it and try it as host with second instance connecting to it on same mac.

One thing kept meaning to post but didn't get chance to. You don't really have to unlock anything or make exceptions - just go to Applications folder and open the icon up with a control click where the menu comes up and you choose "open", if do it that way - you get the same message but with an "open anyway" or thereabouts button as well. Once you do that, it will open fine going forward without needing to do this.

Thanks Varsuuk. Is this common Mac user knowledge or something we need to explicitly call out in instructions?

Other Mac folks, can you try having a connection connect to your game to see if you get a crash like patoarch is getting? If so, which version of OSX are you using?

Doug, no it isn't a commonly know way of getting around that, so I would suggest you add it to the instructions.

I'm a poor judge of commonly known. I've had the MacBook since end of 2012 but I only use it for coding and occasional web browsing + pdfs. And since getting FG, for FG module creation.

I hadn't owned an Apple since an Apple ][+ in '80s.

I'm constantly annoyed not figuring out how to do simple things like "cut and pasting" a file from one location to another. Seems I must copy-drag it ... bah and many other little things I got used to in Windows.

The control click probably happened because when I don't know how to do something, I click it with shift, control, option and alt to see what happens ;)

Can still see it in the old startup via Steam - so phew, it's there somewhere!

Halgabron
April 20th, 2017, 21:11
I copied the entire Fantasy Grounds folder across & replaced - it works just fine.

Probably worth knowing if I've now got two sets of files somewhere but no drama - I'll push on with the new 'App' one & delete the old stuff when I'm sure it's working.

One bit of feedback, it's changed my internal IP address in the app to something entirely different (not my usual router determined one). Works fine though & gives a successful connection test though.

Hello everyone! I've run into a bit of a problem.

I got the app to install easily. However, I'm running into an issue with updating and activating my Ultimate License.

I enter the Ultimate License key in the Settings menu but it is still acting like the demo version. Likewise, I tried using the "Activate License" button and entering my key. After entering the key it prompts the update window, goes through a few lines, and goes back to the main window still displaying as the demo version.

The "Update Available" button is showing red like an update is available. I press the button, it goes through the update, then goes back to the main screen and the button is still red like the update didn't happen.

I've been using FG on my Mac through steam and it works great but this method is still exciting to me. Any ideas of how to fix these issues?

It's nearly the same but doesn't require a need for Steam at all. I think Zeus also updated it to use the latest WINE version and made a change to the Data Directory default setting.

For those unfamiliar with unsigned apps, you can right-click (control-click) and select Open, which will whitelist that particular app without having to visit System Preferences and changing any settings there. Be advised you have to be an administrator on the Mac to run an unsigned application for the first time.

Previously I was using the Steam Mac version, and before that I wrapped the Windows version in my own Mac wrapper using instructions from a different forum post here. I am hoping that some of the bugs from the Steam version are not present, will test that tonight and report back. The most annoying of which was my quick actions bar on the bottom would reset each time FG was relaunched and I had to drag my attacks/spells back into it. Not the worst bug, I know. Another bug I would see is opening shared library modules. This action would cause the UI to become unresponsive for 10-15 seconds. Seems like that could be improved. If it takes that long for other reasons, throw up a progress bar or dialog box to let me know it didn't freeze.

Also, the updater and linking my purchased Fantasy Grounds content worked great, pulled the Core pack over without any complaining about using a Mac / Steam account. Happy to see that! It's always nice to see no errors when you click the Update button. :)

Tried out the DMG - thanks for that, as a windows -> Mac owner, FG is one of the things I miss not having simple installers for.

Only thing I noticed was in the Settings menu than the Data directory was "C:\users\zeph\Application Data\Fantasy Grounds" - which is fine, I guess, but I guess not having zeph's username in there might seem preferable / less weird :D

Yuppers, I do that. And then I have to go back to the origin site and "move to trash" the original file.

Windows: Right-click. Cut. Go to new place. Right-click. Paste.

No idea why that isn't a "thing" in OSX... I keep thinking I am stupid and not finding the equivalent thing Mac folks use.

I haven't tried it yet since reading this question (procrastinating with dumbells besides me waiting to torture my rotator further) but in Windows when I use the non-steam one, I can connect from a second instance. Where the Windows Steam one cannot run twice.
So assume same in Mac. Not sure, would need to test. But I depend on that on my windows one to be able to "see" what players would see when testing adventure modules, etc.

You can with the steam install too, you just need to find the root executable and run that instead of the desktop link.

I tried it this morning and it worked great. Of course being unsigned the security steps were necessary.

It did start offset, so I had to click on the sliver of the folder icon to the right for it to reset the window size properly. I haven't done to much yet, but all seems to work.

This installed perfectly on my Mac. I've been a Mac user forever so the certificate issue was a no brainier and easy to get around. I have not found any issues. Installing on a Mac outside of steam had been a bit tedious (but worth it), so this is a very nice option now. Thank you!

More zooming...

not enough...

(...) this year or next (...)

(...) or next (...)

This is a MAC thread so this wont be long:
1.- A long time ago I made some comments about the Unity version timeline, and weren't understandably well received. (I have strong reasons to believe that it was my fault that the "Unity Program" came a tabu, sorry, just came to my mind after reading some stuff today)
2.- Anyways, time passed and my hope in FG came back; all my wounds were healed.
3.- Post #18 here (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?35164-Official-DD-content&p=304360&viewfull=1#post304360), written by me. Read the last 2 paragraphs.
4.- You see how, in November 2016, even after knowing the -tabu- Unity version of FG was being delayed to 2017, I still believed so much in FG that I bought a beautiful bundle and wrote lovely things about FG while being charmed in an eternal "hope" spell?
5.- Now imagine my face right now.
6.- Anyways. I still believe in FG.
7.- But seriously guys (by "guys" I mean FG Dev. Team). For the sake of all of us who have spent money on your store now, please don't let the competition get too ahead of you.
8.- Please.

Now that you've read me. Please @LordEntrails:
1.- Go ahead and edit that post I just quoted you from.
2.- Delete the "or next" section of your post. (I don't care if by doing that, you're telling a lie... just do it and don't kill my recently restored hope :cry::cry::cry:)
3.- Delete this post if you want to (is not properly talking about MAC stuff).

If you don't, I'll go and crash my car into a bridge, I'll watch and let it burn. I don't care.
JK obviously.

But yeah... just saying.

Just a quick note, the packager might want to create alias's in the root directory of the package to point to directories further in for advanced users to add their own modules, rulesets, etc. I've found the campaigns, extensions, rulesets and modules directories to be the ones I most frequently open. So I’ve installed it on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015):
Running MacOS Sierra v.10.12.4
2.9 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

So happy to see a better Mac version. I hope this can get up and running to the point I don’t need to switch into Bootcamp anymore.

What I usually do is run my full copy of FG in Bootcamp on this Mac running Win10. Then I open a second instance of the app(Demo version) and move it over to a second monitor which is a projector. I display this second monitor onto our game table and use it to display the maps. I have not tried this full setup yet to see how that works. But in just playing around, this is what I found so far:

1. Installed great with a right click-open.
2. Synced to my FG account and all DLC is there.
3. Seems to open quick
4. Everything seems to run quick and snappy.
5. Using the mousepad is WAAAAAAAY better in MacOS than in the Bootcamp Win10 version.
6. Problems with the app window though
-window opens with about 4/5 of it showing. (check out the image)
18630
-I can’t move or adjust the size of the window
-I can Just barely see the restore window button. If I click on that it becomes a proper window.
-If I ever minimize the window(to the appbar), I cannot ‘open’ it again. The only way to get back to the app is to quit it and reopen. (This is my biggest problem with it)
-I cannot resize the window to full screen. If I move the cursor to the edge or corner of the app window it does not give me to option to resize.
-Because I can’t resize the window I tried to ‘Zoom’ the window so it takes up the full screen. But when I do that almost all the ‘hitboxes’ for all the icons are above the actual icons.
-And finally, if I restore the window after being zoomed, It is now locked in place. I can no longer move the window.

So that’s about it. I’ll report back when I try it with the projector too.

Trying this out, install seems to work just fine.

Where I get confused is how do I point the settings to a different directory than the zeph user directory? I keep trying to point it to an existing fantasy grounds directory and it is not working the way I thought. I even used the browse button to locate the directory and nothing is coming up. I saw Zeus mention pre-mounting in a steam thread but I didn't see any clarification on how to do that.

If I used the directory /Users/jhardin/Google Drive/Fantasy Grounds that seems to show me the campaigns and modules that are in that directory, but the updater doesn't seem to want to actually update anything.

I have the following problem in the application of Fantasy Grounds for MacOS, I installed, I inserted my key updated but maximizing the screen is a real adventure and not to mention that every time I open Fantasy Grounds it is in version 3.2.3 free, I click on Update it loses a certain time and is again version 3.3.0 Ultimate, if I close and open again I have to do update again.
It is installed in c: \ Fantasy Grounds and the data in c: \ Fantasy Grounds \ Data
It only happens with me this problem, I am using the following MacBook with the following MacOS:

This is the response we got from our resident Mac expert, Zeus:

The maximising of the window issue is a known problem with FG - its also present under native Windows. Workaround is to manually resize the window by dragging the right bottom corner/edge.

As for the update not taking - I observed this on one of my Mac laptops (I mentioned it when I first updated to from 3.2.2 to 3.3.0) - I had to manually delete the fantasygrounds.exe in the wrapper and then update again. Following that, the update took. Unfortunately, the error is not easy to reproduce and I also don't have access to a MacOS Sierra build as I am still on the previous release (El Capitan), so finding the root cause might be tricky. If I had to guess I'd look at the permissions of the files, as it would appear the update process fails to overwrite files in some cases.

How do I change the MacOS Fantasy Grounds installer port from 1802 to 1803 using Wine Bottler?
And it worked for your DDavison tip, but I'm using Wine Bottler instead of Wine Skin, it works best for opening, memorizing, every time I open and close the program it now keeps memorized and is better at maximizing.

Hello can someone help me, I cant get the mac version to work. I downloaded it, installed it to applications gave it permission to run and it ran.... however the gui never showed up. It did however endlessly drain cpu resourses.

I have followed these in the past and once got it to run however it was with a large memory leak requiering restart every 5 mins..... the main download page now features a mac install button. So i fugured it was finaly officialy supported.

What mac os version are you running? I am running yosemite and haven't had any problems with running it. What has happened is that some times i would click on the icon and it was going to launch but it never did. Then i would click on it again then it would launch.

I noticed a spike in cpu usage too and what fixed it for me was once the app launched i went to settings and unchecked the mac compatible box. That dropped the cpu usage down tremendously.

I'll see if one of the resident Mac guys has any additional suggestions, but have you tried a full system reboot. I'm not sure if that's a thing on Macs but it often fixes Windows issues when you have had multiple items install in a row. Other than that, I'd recommend deleting FantasyGrounds.app from the Applications folder and then download the installer again. CTRL+Click on it to Open Anyway and then drag from that screen to your Applications folder.

Hi folks,

playing around with FG on my Mac running macOS Sierra everything worked fine. However after updating to macOS High Sierra it stopped working. The program starts up but nothing is showing. The program icon in he Dock shows the program running, though. Closing the app normally doesn’t work, it has to be force quit.

I played around with wineskin winery (and some other apps like crossover) and got the whole thing working. So I suspect the downloader from the main page is using something that’s not compatible with macOS High Sierra.

I know macOS High Sierra is still in beta, but I’m using the Golden Master (via the official Apple Public Beta Program). So my version should be quite close (most probably identical) to the final version. Since many Mac users tend to update their OS rather quickly it might be a problem if the installer downloadable from he main page is not working with the latest OS properly.

Since I finally figured out how to make my own wrapper it‘s more or less okay for me. But many Mac users tend to be rather less tech savvy (partly because they are used to things just working out of the box) and might get disappointed.

That’s why I just wanted to point out that there might arise a problem with the release of macOS High Sierra. So if whoever is providing the Mac Installer on the main page could just check this out some frustration and/or problems might get solved before they even arise.

If you need someone to test out new installer packages on macOS High Sierra, just tell me and I‘ll be happy to help.

Hi Edgertite. You (and possibly Smiteworks) may need to update some of the background services that work to make this Windows software run on a Mac, namely WINE. To do this, follow these steps:

1. right-click (or control-click) the Fantasy Grounds.app file in Applications and choose "Show Package Contents"
2. open Wineskin.app in the folder that opens.
3. choose Advanced
4. go to the Tools tab
5. click Refresh Wrapper and let it run (DO NOT CLICK REBUILD WRAPPER!)
6. click Test Run to see if Fantasy Grounds run.
7. If the previous symptoms re-occur, do the following
8. Go back to the Advanced screen and open Set Screen Options
9. Choose "Use Mac Driver instead of X11" and click Done
10. Test again.

PS, by upgrading to High Sierra before all your vital non-Apple apps have verified compatibility, you are taking the risk of stuff just not working. Be sure to give your favorite app devs time to update their software for the new OS. It's always been true of every Mac update since System 7 along with every major Windows update since Windows 3.1.

Good luck.

Sturtus, you are absolutely right. I know there always is some risk in using prerelease software. I was aware of the risk an willing to take it (looks like I’m more pioneer than settler). As I said I was able to find a solution to the problem (in my case using playonmac to run Fantasy grounds, which BTW works quite fine - at least for me).

Just to make sure I don’t get misunderstood, though:
I never meant to complain. I know that developers need some time to adjust software to a new os. And I’m aware of the fact that this might not only take some time but may also put some pressure or maybe even trouble on them.

My intention was not to try to hurry anybody or to generate additional pressure. Not at all. I just wanted to report my testing experience with this new OS-Version in the hope it might be helpful for them. Who knows, sometimes it might be good to know about upcoming trouble beforehand.

That was directed at the Royal We of Mac users. The past few years have seen a lot of Mac adopters who assume apps will continue to work much like they continue to mostly do with iOS updates. That is mostly true, but for mission critical apps, like a tabletop RPG app, best to see what happens to the hireling that opens that door.

Hang tuff everyone before updating to the latest version of MacOS (High Sierra). I will be investigating just as soon as the new release is made available (25/09) and if necessary will re-publish an updated build. For those running the current Gold Beta, could you please try launching the FG app from a Terminal session, this will output any startup errors which we can use for troubleshooting. PM me any information. Thanks.

We just added a new DMG installer for Mac OSX that is available on the site here. Go to Downloads > Mac OSX Installer and download the new DMG.

The old DMG was called Fantasy Grounds.app (with a space in the middle). The new DMG is called FantasyGrounds.app (no space in the middle). This will hopefully allow you to have both versions installed at once so you can Show Package Contents on the old one and manually copy campaigns and other data into the new app if you need to.

The new .dmg file is called FantasyGrounds.dmg, but the app is still called Fantasy Grounds.app, like the old one. In order to install it I renamed my older FG app first, then installed the new one alongside it and moved my files over.

I haven't upgraded to High Sierra yet, but this new version seems to work fine on Sierra so far.

Welcome :)

There are a couple other threads where this, or something like it, is mentioned. I believe the general solution is to backup your campaign data, uninstall, reinstall and then restore your campaign data. There also is some mention about changing some property in the Wine wrapper, but I don't recall details.

Some questions for you:

* Do you have any extensions loaded for your campaign? If so, please disable the extensions and try loading again.
* Which version are you running? (v3.3.6 (Live) or v3.3.7 (Test))
* Which ruleset are you running?
* What are the errors reported? (There's a copy to clipboard menu item in the error console window.)

Thanks,

Hello GrayMouser,

Port Forwarding is generally the same on Mac as it is for Windows PC -- except finding the internal IP address. Can you start here and then let us know if you get stuck on any steps. If you do, let us know the make and model # of your router and your Internal IP.

Well, have the IP and what I believe are the Make and Model....now stuck...

IP: 10.0.0.47
Make/Model?: Xfinity Dual Band Wifi 802.11ac ? AKA Xfinity Wireless Gateway, I believe.

I have managed to get into the LOGON Screen for the Modem by using 10.0.0.1, but am finding I need USER/PASSWORD, which I thought I had but it appears PW is not valid. So, will call my provider and see if they can sort things out with me unless you have some guidance.

This is what I was fearful of with using FG. I have a MacBook and this application is native to Windows. I am not a network admin and this application requires jacking around with networks.....I anticipate having to be a SYS ADMIN to get this to run and an engineer to use it. Neither of which anyone I will be asking to join my campaign will have any patience for.

Looks like a great DM tool, though.....

I didn't see that one listed on portforward.com, but a quick google search revealed the steps:
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/port-forwarding-xfinity-wireless-gateway

Note: You only have to do this if you are hosting the game and players are connecting from outside your home network.

How to Add a Port Forward

Visit xfinity.com/myxFi or open the Xfinity xFi app and sign in with your Xfinity username and password.
Select Network from the Overview section.
Select Advanced Settings under More Options.
Select Port Forwarding from the menu.
Select Add Port Forward.
Note: If you've previously set up a port forward from your Gateway's Admin Tool (https://10.0.0.1), you should see it listed in the Port Forwarding Settings.
Choose the household device for the port forward you are setting up from the drop-down list of connected devices. It should match 10.0.0.47
Note: If you don't see the device listed, it may not be connected to your home network.
Select Manual Setup to enter specific port numbers, ranges and/or protocols. Enter port TCP 1802. All numbers should be 1802.
Select Apply Changes to complete the setup of the port forward.
The device you set up for this port forward can now use these settings.

Note: If you are unsure what port settings to choose, reference the device manual or the application you are trying to use. Opening unnecessary ports is not recommended, as it may pose a security risk.

Unless you are going to be hosting a game (as DM) then you don't need to worry about port forwarding.

Thanks. Yeah, sorted out getting to Xfinity site and logging in. They had an option to enable Port Forwarding so followed that link. Had to put Port 1802 into two spots (I have two wireless networks). They had TCP/UDP defaulted, so I changed those to TCP. Went to FG app and ran connection test again. Came back SUCCESS. So, it appears I sorted it. On hold with Comcast now to determine if I have it correct and to sort out the damned password for my modem.

Onward and upward to the next bug, hurdle!
