Hey everyone,

Life got real busy for awhile and I haven't been running a campaign for several months. Tonight that changed, I started running a 5E Curse of Strahd campaign tonight (forgot to post here until AFTER the game). We're running every Tuesday @ 7 PM CST for 2 hours + wrap up.

I stream a player client with video overlays so the viewers see what the players see, and we have a good time and interact with the viewers a lot. I'm also archiving the stream on Twitch & YouTube.

JohnD: Were you asking about how I do the stream?

I use OBS Studio to broadcast--I use very moderate settings actually, 1080p / 24 fps / 1500 kbps, streaming to Twitch, nothing crazy. After I open up the DM client, and open a second client connected to localhost, which is the client I stream, for a player view.

Layers from bottom to top:
1. FG Client
2. Black bar (across the bottom) with D&D logo
3. Rabb.it cams (Rabb.it is a shared web viewer with cameras--we use it for comms) in the bottom left
3a. Player text labels over the cams
4. Webcam (me) in the bottom right
4a. DM text label
5. Twitch Chat (right side) and Twitch Alerts (top center)
6. Marquee crawl across the top

I have a second scene with basically the same setup, except the rabbit cams are bigger on the left side, and my cam takes up the bottom 1/4 of the screen. I have a slideshow of CoS wallpapers instead of the FG client. We use that for pre-game and when we're mostly just talking.

This is the fourth 5E campaign I've been streaming, really having fun with this one.

Oh he's been outing himself on our stream for two campaigns now! Last session he changed his dice color six times (doing test rolls) before settling on his "lucky" color this game. He actually hit for the first time in our *campaign* on Tuesday. :P
