So the folks behind d20pro are taking a dip at map making tools and this looks interesting and strikingly modern compared to their VTT option. It's also sub-based so there's that, but there's an option on the KS for a one time payment of 600 snicker doodles which is hilarious imho. Some may find it interesting for its paint and play approach.

Check out the kickstarter for Dungeonfog - that looks to be pretty impressive as well as ambitious.

Now that is a league beyond word editor, with lifetime subs for 100 euro, only 28 left. Gotta grab mine.

Oh look. Its another RPG tool that wants a ridiculous sub. Oh wait. That's two of them.
This is why I supported DPS. You buy a program and then you own it. Just like FG.

Thanks but no thanks to these things.

If Fantasy Grounds was being launched today it would probably be subscription based...

Yes. Subs are very popular with many people and the reality is they make planning and operating so much more predictable for the company.

If I hadn't bought an FG Ultimate License early, I'd probably have given up on it and moved over to Roll20 long ago.

MapForge (https://www.mapforge-software.com/), which had a Kickstarter campaign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/battlegrounds/mapforge-battlemap-creation-software-for-tabletop/) about a month prior, is also a one-time fee (not subscription based), and even offers a free level of use that could be particularly appealing to FG users.

Wow, that looks really cool!
Can't stand against those (https://mega-joker-slot.com) atmospheric things, as always.
Unfortunately, the only thing I can is to wish you Good luck!

Davina, welcome to the boards here. I'm not sure though who you are speaking to nor what you are speaking about.
