So I've been playing with Fantasy Grounds for about 1 and a half year right now, purchased it 15/06/2015 and I have 877 hours of it, I have almost all of D&D 5e modules and I love them all.

Fantasy Grounds is the best channel for playing online RPG right now, you pay for it once, buy the modules and have it forever, you host it yourself, you have a awesome support, and you have a very good software that makes your job easier as a player and as a DM, that's why I love it.

However, there is one thing I don't like about it: You can't allow someone else to DM in your table. Since I bought Fantasy Grounds I got so used to it that I cannot play it anywere else online, and most of people here (Brazil play using roll20 and/or RRPG Firecast), so if I want to play instead DM I have to use one of those features. Honestly would be much much better if you guys allow us to host a table and allow other peopl to DM, so we could play instead only DM with FG, I know isn't something easy to put on, but you guys should consider it in the Unity version.

BTW: You guys should also consider a "list of online tables" in the Unity version, if someone doesn't want to appear in this list they could hide the table and/or put password.

So, as a neutral observer, let me ask a question. What's to stop one guy from purchasing FG, and then sharing it with EVERY single person within 100 square miles. How do you expect FG to stay in business?

Right now I could share my serial key but I don't.

Also it would only work if I host the table, so it would be necessary to I remain online.

So, you want them to make it even easier, and more tempting?

I don't know the reasons for the way it is as it is, but I'm guessing that it has something to do with economics.

They could even put a (cheap) montly fee for this service or a better license.

There is a monthly subscription you may have missed.

That's why I said "(cheap)" since they don't sell it at Steam we cant buy in BRL, and when they make a direct conversion it's pretty expensive, and also I'm not sure if the montly subscription allows the use of modules.

Letting one host while you own an Ultimate License as a player is something put some thoughts into.

It doesn't really sound appealing for the developers, since it's one reason not to buy FG since you could probably always find at least one interested player that owns the Ultimate License. Seriously, it's harder to find people interested into DMing than players with Ultimate.

If they were to implement something like that it would have to be pretty restrictive, or people would abuse that.

What if Full accounts were able to host to unregistered users if at least one of them had Ultimate? It does sound appealing for us users, but I don't think it is for Smiteworks, but it's a simple solution.

What if you could pay a small fee (5~15$) to buy an Ultimate Spawn key, which is a linked key that let's you create adventures and host them only if the master key is connected to the game.

There are many ways to implement this, but the real question persists: Do the devs really want this? I'm not sure they could make more profit from it, so why waste time developing something like that?

Plus: Would make FG even more popular.

Qoff and DrOW come from a part of the world where FG is considerably more expensive (relative to income) than it is for most of us which is why they dont know too many others that have licenses.
It would be a cool feature - it would probably be hard for GM prep - and it would be nice to have.
If you havent already do vote for it on the wishlist.

Is this suggestion already in the list or I have to create it?

The 'one free slot' idea for every full license owner is also a solution to expand the user base.

I think thats close but I also think you might almost start a new one as well. Something like:

Player Ultimate License extends to Guest GM

As another member posted there probably is no financial incentive to do this and it might require some serious engine coding.
At least if if you add it SW will see that there is potential interest.

I can not disagree from the point of view of either side.
I understand that in doing so, Smite would not make a profit, but I also understand Qoff's frustration, because I'm Brazilian too and I'm not a teacher because of a simple and silly fear of mastering, instead I change layouts, deleting adventures ready, Is good and doing translations.
The problem is not only in price (the conversion of the dollar to our currency and very heavy), but in our purchasing power.
Of course I have the Ultimate version and I do not regret it, because of the many "simulators" of RPG that I tested the Fantasy Grounds in my opinion is the best.
I know most Brazilians think the value is expensive, but they do not think about the benefits of having a good product and I'm sure it will improve with their innovations (merging with Table Top Connect and Unity re - paging).
But it's like a friend "DroW" said while we talked ... he said in summary that people prefer what is free, that people use Roll20 because it is free, because if it was paid in one would use neither, they would use Skype To play
Of course the voting proposal is good ...
But it would be interesting to rethink the access prices to other regions, because I think it is easier to sell for less and sell more, than to sell little for the high price ...
Of course there would be the problem, ah, but it's not the price, it's all in English, I propose there ... and I know that there are a lot of people dedicated to producing or better transforming the FG to become compatible with their language Then I think it would be interesting to have Fantasy Grounds in a multi-language installation system, of course we would have to understand that only licensed products would be available and allowed to be produced in Fantasy Grounds by companies that allowed it.

I'm from a time where there wasn't a big and generally good f2p option to FG2. Back then we didn't have Ultimate, but the other options to FG were very simple tools that basically only provided sheets to be shared and a very simple dice roller.

After I bought my FG copy I've tried for a few years to convince people into buying a copy of FG so we could play. I've convinced 0 people to do that. Once I heard on say "Why would I pay $40 when I can play online having my own physical sheet and rolling my own dice and telling the DM what I rolled? That's how I play, you're stupid for paying for this.", then I realized people just don't deserve FG. Today most of them play on their favorite f2p option, and while I find it easy to find players now that I have an Ultimate License, they will always prefer that option because they played there so much that they are already used to it.

I do believe that FG does need a f2p level of entrance, the only f2p level of entrance right now is being a player on an Ultimate table but that means you only get to try it as a player and only if someone invites you. Imho the FG does need a, like we say here in brazil, drug dealer deal: "Hey, the first one is free!", so people actually try and get addicted and come wanting for more and even willing to pay for that.

Right now I say for sure that over 95% of the online people won't even try FG2 because it means to spend money and it doesn't even matter the cost, since there is a f2p option. The other 5% might be inclined to check what's the software like and from those just 1% might actually want to buy it.

But that's just my 2 cents. I'm tired ot trying to convince people that FG is good, people just don't deserve it.

Indeed. Thankfully we have Steam mitigating the regional price for us, it's still costs a lot.
Right now the dollar is costing so much for is that if we had to actually pay in dollar's FG would be beyond my reach, only really rich people would be able to afford it. And reach people are usually rich because they don't like to spend their money when there's a "free option" :P

Interestingly enough I was talking to somebody last night from Brazil about them helping translate PCGen's UI and output sheets to Brazilian Portuguese.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. It is something we have discussed many times internally but we still have a large list of features ahead of it that we are 100% certain we want to do that we haven't yet begun working on the items that we are not yet convinced is a good business decision. It might be. It just isn't as easy to predict the impact on our revenue as other things might be.

Thank you! Please at least make a study about it, I honestly think that allowing the host to set someone else as a DM would make FG more popular, good to know that you guys already thought about it, please let me know in the future what do you guys thought

I read about this issue on the forum often - sharing the DM position. But with the subscription model it seems pretty reasonable for anyone to DM for a while. What I see as the real roadblock (for 5E anyway) is not being able to share the PHB, DMG and MM as a player (mostly the PHB). Without the DLC, it's not impossible to make characters but harder and everyone misses out on the links to the PHB for the detailed information.

Maybe that's a halfway point to get to where both sides could be satisfied. Let a player in a game share their library... if that's even remotely possible.

Someone who has the books start a server, connect to them create your characters. Thus person then sends base campaign to the designated DM with the PCs already made.
