View Full Version : How to fix a single token?

Is there a way to fix a single token? For example, if I have a map with a pit trap, and I want to place a floor tile image over the pit (so players can't see it). Is there a way to lock that token/image of the floor tile? Current;y I can only figure out how to lock all or none, and because Fantasy Grounds seems to select the bottom item in the token stack, I'm always accidentally grabbing and moving my "accessory" tokens, and then they go to the top of the stack and my floor appears on top of the players/NPC/Monster tokens.

Another example is currently players are on a boat, which I can't figure out how to do because if I try to move a player on the boat, it instead selects the boat (which then moves to the top layer/stack and covers all the players). If I'm careful enough, I can select them all to move as a group, but selecting individual tokens is impossible. So if anyone has any ideas how to handle this situation as well, that would be cool!

Thanks!

Not that I know of. But you might want to check out this layers extension to help you out. Make sure to read the first couple of posts thoroughly as there are a couple important gotcha's.

This extension is wicked! Thank you! Wow, this should be a part of core FG!

The extension is awesome. Trenloe is the man! However, as he points out in that thread, make sure to read the "notes" in the first post. The extension works great but you need to balance some of the nuances such as the masking being on the bottom layer, the player tokens having to be placed on the top, etc.. I find I use it if I think I'll have to place many accessory tokens on the maps (for example if the maps don't have much detail and I want to add tokens to give more flavor). However, I don't use it anymore if I'm not going to add a bunch of tokens as I find myself forgetting what layer I'm on and placing the player tokens on the wrong layer, having to remember to go back to the base layer to unmask while players have moves they have requested that I don't see as I'm on the base layer, etc..

Again, I do think its a great extension I just find for me I use it now selectively in my campaigns. Really glad he made it, though as it does come in handy!
