Hi folks,
I'm trying to set up Syrinscape with Fantasy Grounds. I think I've set it up properly in Teamspeak following Dulux-Oz's instructions (though I won't know for sure until I can get one of my players to join and try it out so I may be back - lol). That said, I'm able to set the way points/pins for the sound on the map and adding to the sound board etc. I have two (probably stupid) questions. The first is, how can I get the music / effects to stop when I want? I can't seem to figure that out. The other question is, am I correct in thinking that the the sounds added are only specific to that particular campaign for the sound board extension? If so (which I could very well be wrong), is there a way to add it permanently so that for each adventure / campaign it doesn't need to be repeated? Any direction and/or guidance is greatly appreciated.

If the sound is a Syrinscape "Mood" then if you click the SoundLink again it will stop it, if its a "One-Shot" then the only way to stop it is to either play the "Silence" Mood from the Custom I Soundset (this also works for "Moods") or quickly start and then stop another "Mood".

All things set-up in FG are at the Campaign-level ie have to be re-done for each Campaign. The way around this is to Export things (Stories, Maps, Tokens, NPCs, MiniBoards, etc) to a module with the "/export" Chatbox Command

Ahhh - so you basically need to add "Silence" as another "sound". Cool thanks dulux!! I haven't gotten to the Export part yet as I slowly meander through FG. I've got combat down OK though which is a start! Out of curiosity, did you ever do a tutorial for Syrinscape? I noticed you mention you were going to do so on their boards. If so, if you have a URL, I'd love to watch it. I found that your basic FG tutorials were very helpful.

I use the silence mood from Custom I as well.

Ahhh - OK. My apologies for the question about the video.

OK - another dumb question. I have a town (Brindel Town) playing and I'm trying to also link to a one shot like a horse/rooster/cow sounds which do have "+" . I can create the links but am unable to play those one shot cow moos; rooster crows and horse neighs. I'm trying to set them up in the Setup tab. Is there a way to get those little one shot sounds to play? Thanks for your help!

There's also this sound link: syrinscape-fantasy: pause/

You'd need to remove that extra space between : and p that I added.

The One-Shots should play exactly like the Moods - if you've been following the Manual/Wiki Page to get a Mood working then a One-Shot is the same setup (different SoundString, of course)

Thanks for the information swbuza. That will be helpful. With the one shots, I'm not sure what I was doing incorrectly but I've got it working now - lol. Question, on the Sound Extension, what is the miniboard for? Is there any documentation on this. I wasn't able to find any in the Wiki. Thanks.

Its in the manual (& too long to explain here - but check the DOE: Sound thread as well)

Ahhh - if that's the DOE Sound Manual that accompanied the extension, I never got that to open for me. I get a message of "Can't play. This file isn't playable...0xc00d36c4" error message. I can open it in VLC but there's no sound so I don't really know what's going on. Thanks.

It's a Fantasy Grounds .mod (module) file. There are few FG files that are used outside of FG, so don't double click on it to open it, load it as any other FG module - https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Data_Files_Overview#Modules Then open in the FG library: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Library

I have been laboring over this Syrinscape/FG thing all day. I am seeing things now. Anyway, I think I figured out the second instance on TS3 and have that mastered, but for some reason I cannot get sound files carried over into FG to play. I hear them in Syrinscape but not FG. And I have my entire computer set up on Line 1. Any ideas? Thanx.

Welcome to the forum! Can u be more specific? Do u mean when u click a sound link within FG it doesn't play? Have u turned sounds on in the option menu in FG?

I just figured it out. Man, I must be tired. I have discovered that I am a verifiable idiot. I forgot to turn on Sounds on FG to ON thru Settings. Had I read Dulux-Oz's sound manual mod, I could have saved myself three hours of grief. Thank you for your tireless efforts in making FG the awesome VTT it is.

And that's why I wrote the thing in the first place, and that's why I continually tell people to "RTFM" (for those that don't know: RTFM = Read The (*&%(&^%(&^ Manual!) :p

I'm glad you got things sorted in the end.

And so to everybody else who ends up reading this - now you've got one more person who's advice to you would be "RTFM". :)

Cheers

I will attest that if you EVER are having a challenge or issue with a DOE extension, go to the manual. Dulux has does an impressive job with his documentation. Almost every issue is covered in his documentation (and if not there, then usually in the first post of the thread for the extension.)

Question. do you know if there is an easy way to download/extract an entire thread? Just trying to find a better way to organize the thread and view all the questions that come up.
