How do you attach an image to a posting so that the image shows with the content your sharing?

Upload the image as an attachment, then add the attachment link to the body of the post - this gives you the attachment reference.

Then, post the following into your post, replacing the XXXXX with the attachment ID: IMG]https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=XXXXX[/IMG (Starting and ending square brackets removed so the text displayed - you'll need to replace these).

You can then remove the in-post attachment link from the post (don't remove the attachment file).

I don't know what you meant when you said replace the XXXXX

I cant see anything where you attached something like an image or something attachment after your XXXXX sentence.

After you've attached the file, and closed the attachment window, click the down-arrow on the right of the attachment button (so that it doesn't open the attachment window but shows a list of attachment links just below the button) and select the name of the attachment. This will add a link to the post - which includes the attachment ID.

For example, if you do this in post #3 you'll get: ATTACH=CONFIG]18159[/ATTACH (staring and ending square brackets removed so that the text will display. Copy the 18159 and replace that in the following link: IMG]https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=XXXXX[/IMG (again, starting and ending square brackets removed).

To give: IMG]https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18159[/IMG (without starting and ending square brackets)

Add the starting and ending square brackets and you'll see:

https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18159

A bit of a different way to do this:

1. Open the Manage Attachments window and upload the image.
2. Right-click on the name of the image under the Current Attachments section of the Manage Attachments window and choose 'Copy link address'.
3. Position your cursor where you want the image in the post and click the Insert Image button (looks like a picture of a tree).
4. Switch to the 'From URL' tab and uncheck the 'Retrieve remote file and reference locally' box.
5. Ctrl+V to paste the url into the URL box.
6. Click Okay to insert the image into the post.
