Details of your scenario: Your band of characters begins the Serpent’s Skull Adventure Path as passengers on a cargo ship called the Jenivere, headed south to Sargava. The voyage promises not only to bring your characters together as you face adversity, but also to set you on a path into the very heart of one of Golarion’s most feared regions in search of wealth, fame, and ancient secrets.
Traveling Aboard the Jenivere, a ship making the journey from Magnimar to Eleder. After weeks of time aboard the comfortable vessel all the you know at least the following about your ship and shipmates.
The Jenivere is a large merchant ship, a Wyvern-class vessel commonly used by the Inner Sea nations for trade, exploration, and even war, valued for its combination of seaworthiness and capacity for carrying numerous passengers. Wyvern-lass ships have made the dangerous journey to Azlant, Arcadia, and even around the southern tip of Garund, but the Jenivere and her crew run less perilous voyages. For the past several years, Captain Alizandru Kovack has made the western run between Magnimar to the north and Eleder to the south and then back with few complications, despite the fact that his route carries him through waters controlled by the piratical Free Captains of the Shackles, brushes with the eternal winds of the Eye of Abendego, and into periodic conflicts with the Nidalese navy. Although Captain Kovack’s crew appreciate this record, the baseless fear that the Jenivere has robbed luck’s coffers one too many times lies heavy on the hearts of many.
While the Jenivere is a merchant ship, primarily concerned with delivering goods to and from Sargava, she’s traditionally kept several compartments open to take on paying passengers. This trip is no exception. You all number among these passengers, along with six other travelers aboard the vessel. You have spent some time aboard the Jenivere, and have at least passing familiarity with these others making the passage to Sargava, and a few notable members of the Jenivere’s crew.

Captain Alizandru Kovack (Ah-li-ZHAN-drew KOE-vac): A handsome, sturdy man of slightly more than average height, the Jenevire's master strode her deck with a proud rolling gait and steered her with the sure hand of a sailor with uncounted years of experience behind his hooded grey eyes, always aware of the slightest imperfection in his beloved ship's performance, or her crew. During the voyage he seemed to have formed a relationship with Ieana and the two were often together. Sometimes they strolled the deck together after dusk, or she accompanied him to the wheel when he was conning the ship. Her hand often reached out to touch or caress him, and she was quite affectionate to him beyond all other people, embracing him or linking arms. While he was tender and mindful of her, often calling her 'dear' the crew was somewhat restless as he appeared to have little time for them any more and his discipline had become harsher and his temper shorter with them as he spent less and less time with them and more with his partner.

First Mate Alton Devers (Al-ton De-VEERS): The bosun, or first mate of the Jenevire Alton was a tall, dark man of impressive musculature and even more impressive and indomitable will, his loyalty to Captain Kovack was unquestioned, and he often provided a foil to the captain's sometimes arrogant and arbitrary style of command with his easy-going manner and genuinely friendly manner with everyone, serf, staff and superior alike. He smiled readily, his white teeth contrasting strikingly against the dark skin of his face and hairless head.

Cook Vathel Cormysen (VAR-thel COR-my-sen): An outspoken and opinionated Varisian on the wrong side of his youth with shaven bald, he wore a grey smock and was not often seen outside his domain, the Jenevire's galley. A perfect counter to Captain Alizandru Kovack, he was as thin, short, quiet and temperamental as Kovack was the reverse of all four. They were alike in their miserly attention to the ship's supplies, and it was rumored that not only did the captain intentionally supply the minimum amount for the thin, unvarying gruel and soup served each day, Vathel wouldn't know how to cook anything else anyway.

Ieana of Korvosa (EYE-een-a): Boarded at Magnimar, Varisia. She travelled there from [Korvosa] where she acquired most of her study materials, which are various esoteric tomes, charts, papers and journals of the Thassalonian empire, and like scholarly works. Ieana was a tall, shapely woman, with a mass of tangled and snarled red locks, swathed in enveloping crimson robes and favoring brightly colored scarves. Her angular, narrow face was not unattractive to the eye, but was rather flat-faced with a broad, strong nose. She spoke little and always with downcast eyes. Her voice was low and modulated, but has a strange whistling tone to certain sibilant sounds. Perhaps she had a cleft palette? A Knowledge DC10 check for anyone familiar with Varisia reveals she speaks Varisian with a strange accent for that country. It's widely rumored and accepted as fact that she and Captain Alizandru Kovack were lovers. Soon after boarding, she moved into his cabin and spent most of the day there, studying. She came out on deck very rarely, mostly after nightfall. She said the bright light hurt her eyes, accustomed to reading ancient tomes in dim light. At night, suggestive moans, groans and bumping noises hint that their relationship was not a platonic one.
