View Full Version : Class features...

I'm trying to add non-official classes to my 5e campaign.

I started by creating a copy of an official class that is similar in structure to an official class, and that unlocks all of the editing... well, almost. Class features for my copied shell are all read-only.

How do I go about creating new entries for class features?

I'm not savvy enough to figure out Par5e, apparently, so we're looking at "In FG" editing. Any guidance?

Thanks for reading!

If I make a copy of a class all the class features are unlocked. If you don't see them as unlocked click the unlock button at the top right. So you should be able to edit theses. To add new features click the brown edit button to add a new feature and just type stuff in.

Thanks for the reply!

I made a local copy of the Druid class, and most of the fields could be unlocked and edited. It's the embedded links that bring up "read only" features, which couldn't be unlocked. I didn't have this issue with Paladin, where all of the features were editable in the local copy.

I seem to be making progress with Par5e, so maybe this won't be an issue after the weekend.

Ok, I've found what you mean. In the specializations the links open locked entries. This seems to be true of all specializations across all classes. I don't know if this is intended but I'll mention it to Moon Wizard.

Did sth happen here?
I'd like to create or at least edit Features for Class Specialisations and so far I didn't find a way to do it.

If you want to add new specialisations then copy the class and then just add them into the copied class along with the needed features. If you want to edit a feature from an existing specialisation then copy the class and then find the feature that you want to edit in the Other column; open it and edit it. The vidoes linked here will help you https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?37112-New-Class-Creation-Video

This thread and that video were quite helpful. Not sure if this is a bug or I'm doing something wrong, but I found a custom class's features and spec choices are not used when you use the LVL UP button.

I followed the video with FGU and 5E, starting with a copy of the standard PHB Fighter then adding my own specialization and features. If I drag-n-drop the class to the character sheet to level up, as you do in the video, it works out well.

This thread is 5 years old and completely outdated given the recently added features.

If you are seeing issues then I start a new thread here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?107-The-House-of-Healing-Unity

Or if it is character wizard specific here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?60435-5E-Character-Wizard-Bug-Reports

That's true, but this is also the first hit on Google for "fantasy grounds edit class feature." I'm glad the links are here to keep future archaeologists on the right path.

Fortunately, FG is constantly being improved and updated. Unfortunately search results don't always know that.

As said, it's now been updated wit new links and will be good reference if someone else find this thread too. But I will close it to help minimize any chance of folks missing the update and replying only to the OP.
