View Full Version : Feature request with hot keys...

As the dm I like to set up hot keys for the players search, listen, spot checks.
I have been doing them as /die d20... but as who shows up for the game is different from week to week this requires too much work.
Then I had a brainstorm... why not just drag and drop the skill from the players sheets onto the quick bar? Brilliant!
But... while it shows up as: 'Search' since I have 4 players I get:
Search Search Search Search
So my request: as the dm if I drag and drop a skill (or something else) from a players char sheet can it be labeled as such? Even if it took 2 lines such as:
Indirac Kurgan Reck Tran
Search Search Search Search

Right now, you can right click on the hot key and get the pen icon. Then you can rename it to whatever you want.
I do agree on two lines though, would make it easier to see something like "ghast claw dam".
Hope this helps,

I wouldn't want the hotkeys to take up any more screen space by default. I'd be happy with the full text to show as a tooltip when the mouse hovered over the hotkey box, or for the height of the hotkey bar to be adjustable by dragging the top upwards.

I agree. but I think there is room to make it 2 lines.
kalmarjan: Thanks! That does help some.

What we need is a little bit of a macro language.
Should be a macro for 'Player search' which pulls the search from each player and rolls it. Dm Sees rolls listed largest to smallest next to char names.
DM shouldn't even need to do more than type /PSearch or some such. /PSpot, /PListen /PEncumbrance would also be good.

Quite a clever idea Sigurd. This might be possible with 1.6 with the add on of LUA.

I agree that this could be useful, but I think my players quite enjoy rolling their own dice!
However, if this only went so far as dropping the appropriate modifiers into the modifier box for all players it might be much appreciated.

_many_ times the players should not see their search rolls.
Just rolling a die tells the players something. If failure means they don't know about it they should not roll their own die.
Private DM Room Descriptions that include "/psearch" or "/psearch -3 dc21" would rock

Now THAT is a cool idea!
I've been thinking what I want is a better sheet to track such stuff.
At our table top games we pass around a 'sign up sheet'. Put on player name, character name, class, hp's, ac, spot, listen, search. Then the dm keeps this sheet by him.
In FG I've been making something like this by hand before the game starts going though the char sheets and noting their numbers.
I'd like a sheet to pull all that together (and include wounds). I can part it at the top of the screen and referance it as needed.

Actually, I think you could do this already, just by modifying the Combat Tracker, or by adding a clone of the combat tracker and removing the condition/duration fields and adding the fields you want instead. The code that defines the combat tracker describes what fields should be added in the list when you drop a character on it. Then you can add your own icon or button for your new "player stat tracker"
Come to think of it, this is actually a good idea! I think I'll do this for my own rulesystem whenever I find the time. Thanks for the idea! :D

You are welcome.
Ahem... for payment I require you to share it when you are done. :)
I also thing it could be done now but no way I'm going to have the time to figure it out.
