I'm not sure where on the forum to ask this, so I put it here. Please let me know if it should go in a different section.

I'm interested in converting some of the 2ed and 3/3.5 edition fluff for Forgotten Realms to modules that my players can access. Mostly because I would like to play outside of the just the sword coast. One thing I really like about the modules I purchase is that they have a reference manual. But I don't see how this is made if I make a custom module.

Any advice or help?

Thanks

Currently reference manuals are created manually using XML. Details here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Reference_Manuals

This has been discussed recently here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?35958-5e-reference-manual

A good example you can look at is the UA module: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?35461-Unearthed-Arcana-Module

I was thinking of a bigger project... like creating a custom game, based on the WotC d20 system. I imagine that would be a massive amount of work, but is it possible to do within FG? a somewhat new ruleset with custom feats and things like that?

Yes it's possible.

Just depends just what it is you are intending to change. If it is really just a new set of feats, classes, & equipment, then use an existing ruleset and make the Reference Modules that you need.

If, you need new mechanics, like dice rolls, skill check systems, abilities etc, then you will want to look into a new ruleset. And that is a many months long endeavour for a seasoned programmer.

You can probably do a simplified version in MoreCore.
