Welcome MarkOneUp

Many, many games will fill up without a GM ever approaching a specific player.
Visit here: https://everytimezone.com/ and work out your availability in at least: PST, MST, CST, EST, UTC+1, UTC, JST, AEST and NZST. Most games are run in one of these timezones.
Then trawl this subforum every day - use the New Posts https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post button to see the posts that have changed since you last visited. Apply on everything that looks like it might suit you. Read the post in full and make sure you apply in the way that the GM has requested.
You might think you are only looking for a specific game at a specific time on a specific day but you might be massively reducing your chances of finding the right group to play with. Be open minded to the ruleset and genre and be flexible (if you can) with your availability. Play one shots. Of any system and genre. You will meet other players and GMs and this greatly increases your chances of finding a longer term game. People prefer to play with people they know and like. And you might just play something that you would never have thought to and find it just as much fun as what you were looking for. It also might not but it wont be the end of the world. If you do sign up for a game dont blow it off if something else comes up. If you have to cancel tell the GM with as much notice as possible. If you join a game and its not working out for you - same story - contact the GM and politely let them know its not working for you and thank them for the game.

Do check out videos on youtube and also have a look at the https://www.fantasygrounds.com/filelibrary/FantasyGroundsUserManual.pdf

And lastly the world needs more GMs. Dont be afraid to try the other side of the table. If you need help or advise there is plenty of that here. Just ask.
