Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I am new to the whole RPG world, and I was looking for a group of people to help me get my feet wet. I am up for learning any game or rule set. Anyone feel like taking on a newbie?

As a tip: you'll find it easier to get into a game if you can let us know your location, days & time(s) available (in GMT is good, but not necessary) and similar type info. Also keep an eye out on the LFG (Looking For Group) Thread and also the Calendar and don't be afraid to jump in quick if something catches your eye. Also, FG Daze (an on-line Convention) is not far away so you'll probably pick up a game or two there as well - look for info here by searching for FG Daze :)

Also, to help you get started, if you haven't done so already, let me encourage you to take a look at some of the great Tutorial Videos available on the Fantasy Grounds Wiki (and on YouTube). Damn's are good, as are Xorn's, and people seem to like mine as well (mine are also available from the links in my sig, below).

Start with the ones on the CoreRPG, because the CoreRPG forms the foundation of just about all the RPGs we play with Fantasy Grounds - so by learning how to use FG with the CoreRPG you'll learn about 80% of what you'll need to know to play any RPG with Fantasy Grounds. Once you've gone through the CoreRPG Videos you can then go on to Videos about your chosen RPG.

When you get familiar with the basic Fantasy Grounds product the next step is to check out some of the Extensions (Plug-Ins) for FG, such as the DOE: Sound, DOE: Locations, DOE: Weather and DOE: Organisations Extensions (to name a but a few).

And keep on asking questions - we're a pretty friendly lot here, and we love answering questions.

Are you looking to GM or to play? What sort of gaming experience have you had before? Computer RPGs? Board Games?

I played D&D 4th ed once years ago, so I'm pretty much a clean slate when it comes to this sort of environment. I have played lots of Icewind Dale/Baldur's Gate, so I am a little familiar with the systems it uses. Mostly over the past few years, I've been playing random board games such as Bang, Blood Rage, Pandemic, and Betrayal at House on the Hill. As for computer games, I've played just about everything. WoW to SWToR, GalCiv, Age of Empires, Starcraft, Diablo, Dragon Age, The Witcher, and the list goes on and on. I was looking for joining in as a player vs a GM. I honestly don't think I would be good at the GM side just yet. I do have some ideas for campaigns though.

Actually, I am making my way through your tutorials. They are very thorough. I haven't gotten to Damn's or Xorn's yet.
