Request: Need a site/program to sync music (Like Roll20's jukebox)

Hello,

When I DM Face2Face games I will usually have music going that I change based on what's happening in the game. My group and I have been trying to replicate that same functionality online but we've had a hard time of it. Initially we were using discord bots, but they're clunky and it's a pain switching tracks or modifying the playlists. I also looked into just using a virtual audio-cable into a separate instance of discord and then streaming my Spotify list over that.

I'm hoping there's a better solution out there, something like Roll20's Jukebox, that we can all connect to and sync our music. I already looked into the Sound Extension, https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?31369-DOE-Sound-Extension, but it doesn't provide me the specific functionality I'm looking for. I want to sync up playback of songs of music from either spotify or https://tabletopaudio.com/, that way we're all hearing the same track at the same time. Not looking to do sound effects, just ambient music.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd like to point out that we're not a big fan of the DOE audio extension. He's done a lot of work there but we don't like the idea of tying FG to a 3rd party program.

Whatever you're using doesn't have to be integrated with FG for us anyway. :)

Assuming by "3rd party program" you mean Synrinscape? If you use the DOE OLE extension, you have similar functionality (sounds links in FG for easy organisation, etc.) but you can then use MP3s stored on your hard drive, Sounds Cloud (or similar) URLs, etc.. You're not tied to Syrinscape that way. Just pipe the resulting music through whatever sound application your using for voice comms.

@Dracius If you can't get the sound piping through your voice comms properly then you're only option is some form of streaming service that everyone can connect to. A few years ago I did this before I worked out how to send it through TeamSpeak (using the community provided TeamSpeak server (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?17071-Voicechat!-Community-TeamSpeak3-Server)), so I can't remember what service/application I used to stream my audio out to the players - I gave them a link and they could open it in a browser and play the background music I was streaming. I've had great success with using TeamSpeak over the last few years, so I just stick with that.

Did you do your voice coms over Teamspeak too? If so, I'm assuming you run two TS clients?

You can use MorphVox Pro to pipe background music through your voice com.

The only real problem with it is that you have to set up "playlists" in advance and you can't just play anything from locations outside the playlist at any time (at least that's the way it used to be... I've got a license, but it's one of those programs I thought I'd use a lot more than I actually ended up doing.)

With the newer TS clients, you can use two tabs in one client, each with a different ID.

Yup, use TS for voice as well. Sometimes I use two clients on two different PCs, sometimes I use two profiles within one TS client. Depends what I'm doing.

When I had a second comp I used to just run a music bot off that. With one comp for most programs it can be tricky.
