I am considering buying the BRP Rule set for FG. After all it is my favorite rule set even though I think it is lacking in support and love. But either way it is a very simple rule set which is very easy to shape to your wish. From what I can understand it has been a while since the Rule set for FG has been updated. I am just wondering how well the rule set runs with the current edition of FG?

I dont have BRP but I believe there are some issues with it on the current platform.
I know someone who was working on a new build on this but I havent heard any news on that in some time.

Bummer. I wonder what the issues are. If it is just minor ones I might be able to endure em as long as the BRP rules do work overall. Anyone know what the current and how serious the issues are?

As far as I'm aware, the BRP ruleset has been static for some years. I'm not aware of any specific issues, but I also don't play BRP. If you want to give it a whirl, just pick it up, and we can offer you a refund if it doesn't meet your needs.

There was an effort by one of the community developers to update to use CoreRPG as the base layer, but I believe that effort stalled.

I will probably do just that! Have a BRP Star Wars game I have been planning to try out for ages but never got around to do it. My last BRP campaign was a very popular Weird West campaign where I used the Aces High Monograph. I do also plan to return to that campaign setting in the future. So many games I want to run but so little time! :D

I purchased the BRP Ruleset. It is usable but not without its issues. The ones I found straight away was these.

Cannot change the base skill values to reflect a Historic/Modern setting as in the rulebook.
No way to resize windows. So for example items from the Armor and Vehicle lists are unusable and have to be entered by yourself.

There where other issues but it mostly had to do with the clunky and aged interface but shouldn't affect gaming to much.

- Cannot change the base skill values to reflect a Historic/Modern setting as in the rulebook.
This is done via a campaign extension. See pages 25+ (31 specifically) of the Basic Roleplaying for Fantasy Grounds II - User Guide.pdf document in the <FG app data>\docs directory.

Hold down the CTRL key and left-click-and-drag within a window to resize. See "Sizing" here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/The_Basics#Windows

Basically, the interface is from pre FG 3.0. It will still work (after all, it worked for 10 years!), it's just that a lot of stuff will be accessible via right-click context menus and special keys - the interface has less active edit/resize controls than more recent rulesets. I'd recommend going through the document referenced above, and also "Basic Guides" section of the User Guides Wiki page: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/User_Guides Some of these won't apply (story templates, encounters, calendar, party sheet and tables), but a lot of basic info will.

Thanks for the tips! I have gotten so used to well supported stuff like 5E where most stuff is so obvious so I haven't bothered about the documentation. Guess now with an older Ruleset it might be an good idea to go through the documentation. But as you said it gave everything needed to create campaign specific extension. Can't belive I missed that. :p

Actually just tried this and it didn't work. Also tried scrolling and that didn't work either. I am pretty sure I tried it before but decided to try it again with the support of the Wiki info. I tried it in a couple of other windows where it did work so it seem to be disabled for the equipment list windows.

Not all of the windows can be resized unfortunately, I had to modify my ruleset to allow resizable windows. Thankfully it seems the updated ruleset is not far off, so hopefully we won't have long to wait.
