View Full Version : Aihrde Maps?

Anyone know where I can buy "better" resolution overland maps like one with Codex of Aihrde? It doesn't seem to zoom in very well.

I'd love to use it to mark up with pushpins but I'd have trouble reading if I zoom.

Alternatively, any fan versions of these maps?

I wish I learned about C&C sooner. I'd have REALLLY liked to have bought the Castle Zagyg pdfs to see what that was like & walk down memory lane...

I don't have all the products yet so not sure about maps. The CS1 remaster I just finished only had the main Aihrde world map and I didn't alter the original.
I believe there is a hard limit on resolution that FG will display but I just woke up and no coffee yet so I can't remember what it is.

I have the PDF version of the Codex, and I just use GIMP to extract what I need from the PDF.

There are no legal PDFs of the Castle Zagyg stuff. Gary's widow hasn't allowed much of anything to be done with his creation(s).

I just bought the Codex PDF this morning (and like $200+ stuff for $65-ish over 3 orders in a rush at 2am when saw the BF TL sale.) and it came with a world map pdf or jpg, can't recall. I did not fare well when zooming. Some midsize object names quickly blurred out and stayed that way.

Ugh :( Didn't know it never made it to PDFs for that matter. Got an allusion to the rights being sold or up for sale just recently in email from Steve after the Backpack kickstarter.

Not sure which CS1 is by code. I'm referring to the separate map download you get (believe represents a foldout map) when buying Codex of Aihrde PDF.

I just bought the Codex PDF this morning. Haven't opened it up yet but I did see the store description state that it had a huge (and small) map.

CS1 is "After Winter's Dark" the first book in the Aihrde campaign setting.

Yes, I read about you doing that but I went back to their page for it and could not find it to buy. I know someone with it that I could borrow, but I want to buy my own. Was it on the page under C? I recall going back and searching on "Winter" then "After Winter" then I looked at Alphabetical through t)3 abs. I was quite tired so could have missed it. Will look now.

Is that a "module" or "source book" (guess can google) ;)

It's actually a pain in the *** to find. I think just "After Winter's Dark" comes up with it on DTRPG if you're after a PDF.

Oh I thought you meant the other one. Yeah the codex is an easy one.

Thanks Andraax, I know about that one. I bought it along with about 20 others last night. I got it for $8.75 at the TrollLords website. Today, sale would be less of a deal at at 17.50, so DriveThru's sale is better. (TL sale was 75%,50%,25% for Fri/Sat/Sun pricing)

That one came in 2 parts (from TL anyway) the PDF and another PDF of the map. I notice, if you look closely, even at it's normal size, areas like "CROOKED BRANCH" (Above the area FONTENOUQ and right of THE MASSIF) - if you look close, the B & R is really smudged without any zooming. We just "see" it correctly because of our amazing human brains. There are other labled (the small white ones) which are not really legible as is...

It's a pretty map but I hope someone redoes it.

Now, the 2 Haunted Highlands maps I bought from them on TL site... they look CLEAR and nice at all zooms from normal to tight in...

GRRRR.... ;)

EDIT: Here is a snippet where I loaded jpg in paint and made a small area selection then pasted it into a new paint window and drew on it to hopefully be acceptable as a sample (copyright wise - not sure - delete if not cool)

I found it now on DTRPG, I hadn't looked there because was taking advantage of the 75% discount on TL site.
Yea, took look at friend's PDF - it's a "sourcebook" not an adventure. So, since it is not on sale on DTRPG or TL, I'm gonna wait until I see how deep into C&C and that world I get.

Yeah it's pure sourcebook. The existing FG module was a mess, to put it lightly so I was approved to do a remaster and 3.2-ize it.

And the decision as of, oh... 3 or 4 hours ago is that I'm going to be in charge of the "Aihrde" stuff, and Mortar will be doing the Haunted Highlands stuff.

That looks AMAZING, where did it come from and if Codex, where did you buy it? I got my PDF Codex of Aihrde at Trolllords.com.

Or was your link from an FG module?

PDF from DTRPG. Converted with GIMP at 600dpi.

I was in on the KS - the PDF was one of the rewards from TLG, it was provided through DTRPG. The PDF downloads as "TLG_81261_Codex_of_Aihrde_Digital_with_Ursal_Map.p df", the map is the last page in the PDF. Size is about 275mb.

Going to look at it in a few. Just got up late and wife has duties lined up ;)

Of course, my players wouldn't see that. They'd get something more like this: https://s3.silent-tower.org/images/clip1.png

Or, if they found the map somewhere: https://s3.silent-tower.org/images/clip2.png

And if they found it in an old dungeon, it would have some stains on it: https://s3.silent-tower.org/images/clip3.png

Yup, I just re-downloaded it from TL.com. Same thing.

The name of the files are:
TLG 81262 Airhde Cradle of the World Map.jpg
TLG 81261 Codex of Aihrde Digital.pdf

So yeah, it's different. I cannot believe they are giving those that purchase it full price (well, not me but that's due to when I got it, not WHAT I got) quantity a barely usable map.

I'd have paid for a separate map if I had to (heck I bought TWO maps of the Haunted Lands seperately from them!) but none was visable.

I'm pretty bummed on not being able to even purchase the usable-quality images. I tried looking on site to PAY for it again, if I must... bah.

If anyone knows of "open source" usable Aihrde maps, please reply or PM me with details. The only thing they had on their sites were poster maps to buy :(

I find it hard to believe that the version they sell on DTRPG is different than the version they sell on their own website.

I thought you said you got it from Kickstarter? Which is why thought could be a different one.
And mine is named differently, I looked up the Kickstarter, those do seem separate bonuses - which are not available to me in any legal manner.

I sent them an email describing the issue with both our samples. I asked if they at least would sell the better map like the two other separate maps I bought from them.

Thing is, there are things on DTRPG that is theirs but they don't sell on their website. If the Codex IS different there, I wish I'd known and I would have switched my vendor but that seems a holy nightmare for them if what was in each for same items were different...?

AHA! You prob received from KS the map set Separately from Codex and gate they sell there: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/162768/Aihrde-Map-Pack

However, this "postemap" product is only available in paper on TL site.

Anyone bought: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/143711/Codex-of-Aihrde itself and dan compare to either map set or what I posted?

I got a discount link to this product on DTRPG as my reward in the KS. This is the product I used for the clips above. The description even says "Full Color 36 x 24: Poster Map Included!"

I just purchased and downloaded this product: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/166648/Aihrde-Lands-of-Ursal-Game-Maps

I produced this clip from that product: https://s3.silent-tower.org/images/clip4.png

Quality does not seem to be much different than the one included with my other purchase. Size seems to be consistent with the previous product as well (254mb, but it does not include the text of the Codex), however the map is split into two sections in this PDF, rather than one big map.

Any advantage on this map set (excluding historical movement f people and weather map ... what the HECK ;) is the weathermap?) ?

The set I linked is only the map of Ursal. The other set predates the Codex of Aihrde KS (though it may have been updated after the KS products were available). A weather map shows the major wind patterns.

The last, just confused me a bit. Then again, I have injured toe, perhaps right rotary cuff (hoping just pulled something) aaaaand 9yo and wife grabbing me to do things on my day off... so I'm not at best (esp with late nights shopping and buying stuff like CC3 now)

You ever on TS for FG where could walk me through this so I can address TL on this mess?
