Hey everyone,

Im sure someone else has asked this but I cannot seem to find it anywhere so I thought I'd make a new post.

I am running out of the abyss and there are multiple places, right from the start, where the book recommends the players play some NPCs. I have went as far as to make full pc sheets for the more permanent NPCs but I am having some issues with summoned monsters (such as the wizard summoning 4 skeletons) or more temporary NPCs.

I know I can share the npc sheet with the player but they don't seem able to make targeting and attack rolls. So I end up doing all the work except the movement of the tokens (which the player can do when set to friendly)

I have tried making 1 sheet for the skeleton and adding it multiple times to the tracker but it links them all for damage and effects.

Later in the game the players will end up in command of a small force of NPCs and I was hoping to figure out how to solve this (preferably by giving the pcs full control of the npc sheet) before we get there.

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone has to offer. Thank you in advance.

Tony

The players can indeed use the NPC sheet to make attacks and damage rolls. The thing to realise is that the players can't do this from the CT like the DM can; they'll have to do it on the sheet itself. If they mouse over the NPCs actions they'll see certain text gets highlighted (see the image attached). If they double click that an attack or damage roll or a save or an effect will be applied or whatever. Make sure that the targeting is correct of course before any such rolls.

I've just tested this and it works OK for me. The key thing is to share the link from the combat tracker (on the right side of the creature entry in the CT) with the player/s - drag the link to the player portraits on the desktop.

The players won't have access to the GM features of the combat tracker (attacks, etc.) and will have to make all of the NPC rolls from the NPC sheet - if the NPC sheet is closed on the player side they can double-click on the token on the map to open the NPC sheet.

You can test all of this out yourself by running a second instance of FG on your own computer (with a GM instance running) and "Join Game" with a host address of localhost

Thank you all for the help, we will try it at the next game

I tested what you guys told me about and it worked. The only thing I could not get to properly function is for the player to be able to target the enemy they were attacking. Is this just something the DM has to do?

The player can do the targeting. They need to click on the NPC token, and then CTRL+click on the target token.

Do as Callum says. See the Targeting section here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Tokens#Targeting
