View Full Version : Thread Reply Problem

Really bizarre. Starting yesterday, 90% of the time when I try to reply to a post, my spacebar doesn't work until I go back in with the arrow keys and then I can insert spaces. Anyone have any idea why this is? It only seems to be happening in the FG & ENWorld forums that all use vBulletin (I think).
Not happening in other applications, doesn't happen when I start a new thread. Restarted my computer. Don't even know what to Google to look for help.
Any ideas? Maybe I accidentally activated some keyboard shortcut?

Now, that is bizarre and I'm glad it's only happening to you :)
If you have a driver for your keyboard it might be worth reinstalling it.

That's a good idea. Anyone have any others?
(See, this time it didn't do it...)

Could also be related to a browser extension conflicting with vBulletin. I use Chrome and I know it and my extensions update silently in the background, could be the same with you and whatever browser you are using. If you're on mobile it could also be related to whatever keyboard you are using, try switching to the native keyboard or install a new one like SwiftKey or similar.

There was a substantial server maintenance event yesterday - it could have introduced a new "feature" for you.
What browser and version are you using?
What operating system and version are you using?
What antivirus are you using?

That could explain why I am not receiving notifications for subscribed threads like this one.
Edit: or the more logical answer was that gmail decided to start marking the emails as spam....

I'm not having any issues on Win10 using Chrome myself, though my antivirus is whatever is built into Windows.
Maybe try a different browser like MS Edge or Firefox.

Chrome 54.0.2840.71
Win 7 pro
Sophos
It also happens on ENWorld so I don't think its anything to do with server maintenance, and not all the time. And when it does happen, if I go back to earlier typed text, it then works as long as I'm not trying to type the very last character in the post. That's why I'm tinking its something like insert versus overwrite mode from back in the DOS 3.x days...

Definitely try a different browser, IE11 or Firefox are good choices for Win7.
