been years since i played D&D so i would prefer a DM that understands i might be a bit out of touch with everything. also i would prefer a flexible DM who allows custom traits as long as they balance out everything (not min maxing, but adding traits in a way that fleshes out my character while having an effect on how i function in combat and out of it.

Hola santhinal you will usually find much more success if you approach GMs that are running games in your availability. Many times GMs do not have to chase players as enough players respond to their LFP posts. Convert your availability to all the major timezones (that includes non US timezones) so that you recognise more quickly what games do fit your schedule.
