Woohoo - great looking games - and it looks like you have room for another player or two?

Amazing screenshots!
I couldn't help but notice Le Loutre. If you're concerned about consistency with the French language, may I point out it should read La Loutre. But yeah, who cares really, right? :)

I will have to do better with my French ;)

I think there could be seats open as the game gets fully under sail... but I leave it to Dread Pirate Raz to post a bill as to when he'll take on more crew. (Soon I hope! Perhaps at an FG Con or Daze?)

The game has a great soundtrack too.

For those who want a inspiration for pirates of the traditional swashbuckling type, see this fun movie with Walter Mathau:

Do the differences in token scale ever mess you up?

The rules come with the adventure The Lady’s Favor as well as an adventure generator, tokens, some maps and plenty of images.

I’ve been using a combination of items given with the rules as well as tokens, images and maps from other sources that I’ve plugged into the campaign. So far we haven’t had any issues with the different tokens. :pirate:

It comes with the Pirates of the Spanish Main rule setting and requires the Savage Worlds ruleset

The ruleset includes custom pirate-related rules for navigation and ship combat and many fun pirate and swashbuckling flavor tips. Lots of fun to be had for the price.

Just went ahead and bought the Savage Worlds Ruleset and the Pirates of the Spanish Main mod on the christmas sale today. As my experience is mainly with D&D, this will take a while however to digest. So abilities/attributes are not by points but by type of dice. I understand You can add 5 points to raise to the next higher die, with each increase to any attribute up from a d4 costing one point. So if I have this right, five points are spent on an array like this: " d4,d6,d6,d8, and d6 "?

Hello Hector Trelane, How's your game going ?
I started one PoTSM campaign with my franchspeking table. It's fun. We're doing the ladies favour. Then, I'll prepare my own scenarios. Do you find inspiration easily ?

Ahoy dragonheels! :pirate: Are you running a French crew on the Spanish Main? That would be an interesting take, all we have is an annoying yet charismatic French cannoneer (*cough* Hector) on our mostly English crew.

Our game is going well. We're currently on summer hiatus and hoping to get things off again by mid-August/early September.

I've been using the swashbuckling pirate movies of the 30s for inspiration and have tweaked The Lady’s Favor in that respect. The campaign is less historical and more in theme with the movies of the past. The crew has found themselves in some perilous situations that would normally be their doom, however, by allowing liberties with tricks and edges, often cinematically or comically highlighted in the movies, they've overcome the odds. Hector Trelane posted earlier in the thread a link to the 1986 movie Pirates that covers such antics.

Some other sources I'm using are:

Michael Crichton's Pirate Latitudes that's perfect for PotSM;

A General History of the Pyrates by Captain Charles Johnson first published in 1724, an excellent account from back in the day;

New Dimension Games has several pirate supplements that you can pull directly or revise into your campaign. You can find those online at DrivethruRpg or RPGNoW; and

GURPS Classic: Swashbucklers is another good source full of background material of the era.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Raz
