Is there a way to add a trigger to the map?

Example: cast bonfire, use pointer square to high-ligh 5' cube on grid map where bonfire is, if creature enters square it automaticly rolls DMG and DexSav to see if its traped. Or fog/smoke, all creatures in highlighted area are blind.
