View Full Version : Anyone looking at making a ruleset for the Cepheus Engine?

So I am a huge Traveller fan and would love to be able to use FG to play it. However Mongoose Publishing, who publishes the most popular and current version, is pretty strict with it's licenses and IP. I assume that this is one of the reasons that the few projects I have found that attempted it never went far. There has always been an SRD for the core of the Mongoose 1st Edition rules, but it wasn't until recently that I saw someone had done something with it. In December 2015 Mongoose released the 2nd Edition of Traveller and changed a bunch of things, including how they license it to third party publishers. In a nutshell, they screwed them (to a point). This apparently spurred someone to do something and the Cepheus Engine (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/186894/Cepheus-Engine-System-Reference-Document?) was born.

The Cepheus engine is a "Classic Era Science Fiction 2D6-based Open Gaming System", in other words it is pretty much an "open" version of Mongoose Traveller 1st Edition. And from what I have heard Samardan Press (the author) is more than happy to have people use his rules to build their own stuff.

So is there anyone out there who loves Traveller AND knows how to build a ruleset for FG who wants to do this? Or just someone who loves a challenge? I would do it, but I have no clue where to start nor the time to figure it out. :(

Well Hot Dog!

I had searched for one a while ago (like last year) and didn't think to search again (duh!) before posting.

Thanks!
