View Full Version : Did anyone else have connection issues tonight?

My group of 5 friends tried playing tonight over a local lan that had internet access, and it didn't work out.

As we were setting up the game, 3/5 people connected. The other 2 kept trying to connect, but it'd time out. I rebooted the server. After that, nobody could connect. Although, it would say they are "connecting" on the server. We tried patching, but that also kept timing out (we could access other websites). Everyone had the same symptoms on each computer, and the server is running an ultimate license.

We assumed FG's DRM server was having issues, but since I don't see any other posts about it, I figured I'd ask

If you are on a Local LAN what were the players trying to connect to?
Eg your alias or something else?

They had the local ip address. 192.168.something. I know the address is right because their names would show up on the server as connecting. It just wouldn't finish connecting.

If you were all on the same LAN and in the same range and they are getting that far then the issue is a local issue - either the GM PC needs a reboot, a Windows Update has changed something, an AntiVirus update has changed something or the router is interfering or...

The GM was on wireless on the network or more than one Client was on Wireless and there was just too much data being downloaded and the WiFi being CD/CA you just needed to wait longer. Preferably connecting a single PC at a time and not connecting the second one until the first had completed downloading all the things the GM had shared.

These are the most likely causes.
