I and my brother are looking to join the adventurers league but I have no idea who is running a starters game, or if we could join a later (older) campaign at the start.

You may also want to try checking the games being posted on the LFG - Looking for Group (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-LFG-Looking-for-Group) section. I think some DM's post their AL games there looking for players too. You might also want to post your time zone and the times you would be available.

Adventurers League is often not a campaign with a regular group. AL allows you to play with the same character in multiple groups with multiple GMs.

Sign up for a game or three at FG Con 9 as well - and seriously - try some of the non D&D games too - not because there is anything wrong with D&D (it is awesome) but there is also lots of other great stuff too. Check out all the Savage Worlds games and the Pathfinder Multi-table - up to 30 players and 6 GMs combing to complete one mission.

FG Con coming up will be a great place to start, but some of the games may not be Adventure League-legal. Talk to the DM. They may just be home brew fun.

The de facto official site for AL Games is ALOnlineTools.net (https://alonlinetools.net). All the games there will be AL Legal. Keep an eye out though. Not all of the games are on Fantasy Grounds.
