Fantasy grounds wont save characters locally

This is an issue ive had for a while now.
When i try to make a character in the manage characters tab it wont save locally and i can only save a char sheet by exporting the .xml sheet to a separate folder.
Ive gone through the permissions the client has and it should be able to save it but i get a console error with permission denied regardless.

i know it may not seem like big deal it just irks me that my sheets dont show up in my local PC's window in the client

It sounds like you don't have permission to save to the folder your are trying to save to. Make sure your FG data folder is somewhere that you can read write to and that FG is pointing to that folder in settings.

Specifically, it is the <FG App Data>\characters directory. Then there will be files for the specific ruleset, for example: 5E.xml for characters made with the 5E ruleset. Make sure all of these .xml file are not read-only. If you still have issues, you might try renaming/deleting them and running FG in manage characters again and see if it works.

What exactly is the error message you are getting?
