In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagon load of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found "something big," and that he'd pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen's Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to "take care of business."

FG License: Ultimate (anyone can join the game, including free users)

Game System: D&D 5E, Adventure: Lost Mine of Phandelver (Wizards of the Coast).

Time Zone: PDT (GMT -7) / PST (GMT -8)
Please note that PDT ends on Sunday, the 6th of November at 03:00 local time, when the western US returns to PST (so we would then go back an hour).

Day of week and time: Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm Pacific / 4:00 PM Mountain / 5:00 PM Central / 6:00 PM Eastern / 10:00 PM GMT

Planned start date: Starting on Tuesday, September 6th. We will seek to have sessions last between 3 to 4 hours.

Planned Frequency: As agreed with players, every 2 weeks or on back to back weeks frequently but not always.

Term: Until the end of the adventure, possibility of moving on to another campaign.

Text or Voice: Voice

Voice software used: Discord, text can be used, but only for emotes, whispers, etc. I may use text occasionally for some NPC interactions.
Other software used: Hamachi for establishing network connection

Roleplay & Combat mix: Depends on the party, but I expect it to be around 50/50.

Number of Players in game & needed: 5, one more needed.

Character starting level & equipment: Starting level is 1, all standard equipment as defined by class. Pregens available or you can make a character before we begin playing. My house rule for 5e is this: Roll 1d20, your roll determines a random number generator that assigns you an array. I like to emphasize making due with what you get and not “optimizing” characters. Let the stats drive who your character is.

Permitted Books: (races, classes, spells, etc.): PHB, SCAG, EEPC

Character restrictions: No evil alignments.

Details of scenario: The Lost Mine of Phandelver introductory module from the starter set is geared for beginner players, but experienced players are definitely also welcome (or welcomed back). I know many who have begun LMOP at some point but never made it to Phandelver or beyond. I don't mind those who want to jump back in to play so as to finish the adventure – so long as your character does not take advantage of your own knowledge when passing through parts a second time. I want the group to help tell a story, so I highly value group cohesion. Possibility of mature language, so young or easily offended ears need not apply. The first session will start with making/checking characters and verifying everyone's setup (voice, FG and such). Please note that while I have dm’ing experience, I don't claim to know every single D&D 5e rule or be familiar with all released errata. I have run Phandelver once all the way through and have moved that group onto another campaign. I want to run the starter set again and implement things I have learned.

If you are interested in playing then please post below with some details about yourself including your location and experience playing the game or other role-playing games. Let me know what character and race you want to play. I don't need a back story at this point (although you’re welcome to provide one to me), as I expect to be offering you some further background details before play begins.

DM's Request: If after signing up you decide that this campaign is not for you, or that you cannot make a game session after signing up; please just let me know in either in a post here, or post in the calendar. We all know that things happen and real life may interrupt. I want to avoid turning way players and then having someone not show up without sending any message beforehand. It's unfair to the players that have signed up, to the players that we have turned away due to group being full, and not fair to the DM.

If still interested, please post here AND on the calendar. No shows seem to be from players signing up on the game calendar only. Therefore, I will only accept players who make the effort to also post in the forum thread. Thanks for your time reading this post.

I applied on the calender and am excited to play in your campaign. I'm pretty familiar with FG and have been gaming for 25 years...mostly D&D. I'm happy to fill whatever role the party needs to have a well rounded group, so after all the players are picked, we can discuss who wants to play what. I'm definitely looking forward to playing some D&D again!

I applied on the calendar and am looking forward to joining a new campaign. I'm not too familiar with FG but have seen some videos on it so I think I have the basics under control. I've played a little bit of D&D in the past but my first campaign ended quickly to some very bad rolls, and the second I was unable to finish due to moving recently, so I decided to try online D&D to avoid that issue. Both of my previous characters were rogues, but I'm also interested in bards and warlocks, so if possible I would like to be one of those three. But if needed by the party I'm willing to play any class really. My main goal really is just to play more D&D and have some fun.

Hey there,

I applied on the calendar and would love to join. I have plenty of time on my hands and I've been participating on a Strahd campaign so I've got a good handle on Fantasy Grounds. I'm interested in playing a Elf Monk, but I'm willing to adapt to whatever the party or DM needs. I have a license and full voice, so I hope to become a part of this!

I would like to join and have already applied on the calendar, hoping to be able to play a barbarian or monk

ah too bad, if you were starting 6 pm central instead of 5, my wife and I would have liked to join. Oh well.... I'll have to advertise to start my own game....

out of curiosity, what is EEPHB?

I suppose it should have said EEPC which I have fixed. It stands for Elemental Evil Player's Companion. A free supplement that has extra spells, races, and other stuff.

how does the array thing work precisely, like what is the setup for each face?

It is a random array generator I made based on the roll of a d20. It cuts down on the variance of the handbook rolling for stats method but allows for getting an 18. For instance if you roll a 20 you will get an 18 for one of your stats, but it is balanced with your other stats. The standard array sums to 72. When you roll a 20 the generator imposes that the sum is equal to 74. That is just one example. I like it because it allows for uniqueness in character stats but not high variance in terms of power. That is, you don't get some players with really strong stats and others with weak stats.

but how does it break down since I would be rolling the d20 IRL

We are now down 1 player and can use another. We are playing this Tuesday on the 13th. The party could use a martial character but I am not strict about that stuff. We have played one session.

Hey there! I'm Ryan, I've been a d&d nerd for a huge chunk of my life. Mostly played a still-active (even though the player base has shrunk) MUD based on the greyhawk campaign. Would love to try this game...after watching all the Pax games and critical role I'm dying to actually roleplay! I live on the east coast and have Tuesday's off of work so this would be perfect! Please choose me....I'm green at FG but love to roleplay and game! I signed up here and on the calendar!
