View Full Version : 5e Twitch Stream List for new DM's and players?

Edited: Had to add Fantasy Grounds twitch stream! Don't know what I was thinking there. Dave (tabletopping, see below) runs their sessions Sunday nights. Its a must view!

Hey, guys. I was just thinking that it would be nice if there was a list of twitch streams for 5e pinned somewhere. I'm just not sure how much new players and DM's in particular know about them. As a new DM, it has been absolutely invaluable to me to watch some of the more experienced DM's run their games on Fantasy Grounds. If this has already been done, I apologize. Two that I highly recommend are the following:

https://www.twitch.tv/rob2e

https://www.twitch.tv/table_topping

https://www.twitch.tv/fantasygrounds

Rob has a great style in my opinion and has a number of campaigns on twitch and youtube including POTA, Adventure League games and some homebrews. Rob really knows fantasy grounds well and I've learned a ton watching his sessions! I was fortunate enough to get into one of his current games for Unknown Whom.

Dave (tabletopping) is a really experienced DM who has a ton of campaigns available (including OOTA, POTA, Adventure League, etc). He also has quite a few videos on character creation in fantasy grounds and other helpful tips (on youtube). I love watching his games and he really adjusts his campaigns for the types of players he has.

Does anyone else have other channels they follow that they can add? I'd love to have others to draw from as well. If I ever get confident enough with my group I'd like to create my own channel and start streaming as well. It really is a great way to learn.

Another great stream is watch is twitch.tv/fshschmo (https://www.twitch.tv/fshschmo), Chris wrote all of the FG conversions for Adventurers League modules, and is a great DM. Definitely one to watch.

So, I streamed my first game last night on twitch but didn't click on the "archive" button on my feed setup screen, so it didn't save in twitch! Note to self and good lesson! Not sure when I'll have time to stream again, but I plan to stream my fg-con session. Here is my link. Nothing there yet, but hopefully soon! :)

I didn't know that there was this much traction with FG and Twitch. I'll have to add my own stream once I nail a game down. For now, how do I subscribe to all these awesome games? I have only dabbled with Twitch on my Android...

Just click on the links from the forum here to go to the individual channels and sign up to follow them! That simple! Probably need to create a username in twitch first but it's super easy.

Go to the channel of the streamer, for example https://www.twitch.tv/gwydione and in the upper right corner will be a purple button with the word Follow and a heart, click that button to follow the streamer.

You really can learn a lot from watching streams.

Truer words were never spoken! I had literally dm'd about 7 session in my life before the session with Zerbious that I streamed. Now, I'm not saying it was great by any means and other dm's could have done much better I have no doubt, but my point is that I never could have done that and had any confidence if I hadn't watched numerous videos first of experienced dm's like you, Rob! It really has been invaluable to me.

I have one that I have been running since about March. Sundays 7pm CST. Its a charity stream for a non-profit, we run on an alternate continent of Exandria. All home brewed. I am not the best DM, and my players have some pretty cool items at a low level, but its all about having fun! twitch.com/playtobeat_bc

Just wanted to recognize Rob for his channel being featured on the front page of twitch during last night's stream. FSHSchmo was taking the party (including Rob) through SKT. At one point in time there were over 1,100 viewers watching the game live which featured fantasy grounds. FSHSchmo did an awesome job as always.

It was a great forum to feature how cool fantasy grounds is. Many streamers asked about what VTT was being used and hopefully it got a lot of exposure for fantasy grounds.

Congrats Rob and FSHSchmo!

ThanX Gwydion! After checking the Twitch stats, it turns out we had as many as 1,258 concurrent viewers and a total of nearly 20,000 viewers total. I appreciate everyone's support, and a special shout out to my channel mods, Gwydion, GeoQuester, Urosh, EraserTX, and to FshSchmo for running a fantastic game last night!

I am super new to the whole streaming aspect if things, so I am learning now. Plus this whole idea was for me to improve my DMing skills, and if someone along the way likes what they hear, then all the better.

I need to see if Youtube or Twitch is better for me to use, but for right now, my youtube vids are here

I'm preparing to stream my sessions of 5E PotA each Wednesday from 7.30PM to 10.30PM CET on https://www.twitch.tv/glahadmaster Group and session will be in French, feel free to follow to support us!

Being completely new to this streaming world for the moment, does someone know if I should ask some permissions for whatever things I'm using during my session? I will display icons of FG, Syrinscape, DD etc. is that allowed/ok?

Advices from experienced streamers always welcome!

Awesome! Love POTA. I'm in the middle of running it myself. Doug already chimed in here. For Syrinscape, they have some advice on their website. I put a description on the front page of my twitch stream (you can see it here: https://www.twitch.tv/gwydione) which comes from what Syrinscape recommends. I also typically have a slide at the end of my stream giving attribution to Syrinscape and FG and I try to talk about them both during my stream. You can check out other streams like Rob2e, FSHSchmo, Geoquester and PraetorsRejects to see what they do.

Have a great time streaming! I was nervous at first but have been surprised with how much I enjoy it.

Mine's not not a livestream - just a youtube series. I develop video games full time, so the twitch environment doesn't fit my schedule. But I ran a permadeath Fantasy Grounds game of Curse of Strahd which feels pretty unlike anything else that I've found (YMMV of course!).

Year and a half long campaign. The major house rule is that if the character dies, that's it for the *player*. We have to drink in their honor and say goodbye. It adds an element of fairly palpable tension - or so it seemed from my side of the screen. I'm proud of the arc, it got better - and bloodier - all the way to the end. So far, about... 30 percent has been posted. Our players are various game devs, writers, and actors - folks like Ashly and Anthony Burch, Nika Harper, etc. If that sounds like your cup of tea, come on by!

Hey everyone, I just stumbled across this thread. I'm the DM and owner of Role for Fun. I run two different campaigns each week, upload sessions to YouTube, and have a great community full of people like you.

My streams are Monday and Wednesday nights, typically 3 hours, 8-11pm CT. Monday nights is currently the "Wicked Tides" campaign, a custom blend of Ghosts of Saltmarsh and The Yawning Portal. Wednesdays is "Saviors of Phandalin" - an intro campaign for a newly established group, and we'll be switching to Odyssey of the Dragonlords when it finishes getting converted for FG. We obviously use FG for the VTT and also Syrinscape for background audio/music.

We also have a wonderful Discord community where we chat between sessions, joke, swap memes, share advice, talk about the sessions, etc. I truly hope to see everyone there!

I see this is a bit of an old thread but I thought I'd throw my own stream in here that I just started a few months ago. I have just recently reached Affiliate from my D&D stream alone (tried for almost a year streaming other games to 1 viewer) so I am super stoked to grow from here. I am using FGU with Ultimate license. I am running the campaign in my own homebrew D&D world of Thoridan which is comparable mostly to Forgotten Realms. The campaign will involve multiple story Arcs consisting of multiple chapters of about 8 sessions or so. We are on Chapter 2 (Price of Vengeance) of the first Arc which the characters are involved in helping with achieving revenge against an evil barbarian tribe with delusions of conquest. In Chapter 1: Path of Vengeance, we used some free built in content from an old Adventurer's League module but now we have moved into custom content as I have gotten comfortable with the tools. Please come check it out Tuesdays, 9:30pm - midnight PST) on my Twitch Channel: VampyreLogan.
