This was the last year for us to run a booth at Gen Con. We have greatly enjoyed meeting everyone who stopped by and said hello and we have had a blast hanging with our awesome volunteers. Next year, we will try to set up some seminars and panels to do our traditional demo for newcomers, and also to cover some topics for existing users.

A special thanks to Jim Hauber (jshauber) and Phillip Greig (Zacchaeus) for hanging out at the booth so much and helping run people through demos.

Welcome back, everyone!

Are you able to tell us what the discussion regarding the digital future of 5e was all about? I haven't seen anything about it on other sites yet and don't really know what was said but the title alone makes it sound interesting.

Thanks!

It was definitely a fragile moment with all of those kilts! :o

Man, I knew I should have just bitten the bullet and found time to make it down there. I really only wanted to come down here and say hi to the Smiteworks team (I'm in Michigan), and visit a couple of other booths but couldn't find the time to drive down there for a few hours to do so. My chance was wasted! Wasted, I tell you!

Its not like they wont be there, but if it takes 20 minutes to explain FG then it isnt really worth the cost of the booth. Other than networking opportunities and a fixed base where publishers know they can find you a booth isn't terribly useful if you aren't moving product.

Right, but the booth is the best way for me to give hugs!

Zacchaeus LOVES hugs!!! We found that out when the Female Braveheart impersonator stopped by the booth and told him how much she liked his "outfit". Of course the best part was when he answered and she found out he was a real Scotsman!

Yeah, she was a doozy that one. She had coloured half her face blue with what I imagined was a felt tip pen (I think you call them Sharpies). She was also obsessed with poking my sporran with her sword :)

Did I hear something about SmiteWorks moving to Florida? If so, where? If not, I better take another Prozac...

No excuse not to see a few rocket launches. Always wanted to, as I used to be in aerospace, but never have. Bucket list :)

Dang. So close and yet so far. I'm over in Tampa. East Coast is too long of a commute. I wonder if they'll let me work remotely??? :rv:

Interesting. You're going to be able to play the Adventurerers League game that you are in with DDM David, in person. Ironically, no need for a VTT. ;-p

But for a combat tracker and integrated map... :)
I use FG for in-person games all the time.

We upgraded to a 20x20 a few years back. Hotels like to jack their rate up as well, so with the booth, hotels, flights, uber, food and beer, it costs a pretty penny to go to Gen Con each year as a company. We will still have roughly the same costs without the booth but we think it will be more strategic and better suited to our audience.

Last time I was at GenCon I survived on Subway, 5 hour energy drinks and adrenaline.

That's right! At SydCon (here in Oz) we survive on BEER!

And meat pies!

We normally do, but they started serving us beer in plastic cups at the restaurant.
