I was watching one of the D&D character creation videos, and the guy was showing you how to roll 4d6 and then drop the lowest die roll. I noticed that he had options (tabs) above the chat window, which let him select an option to drop the lowest roll (one was titled "roll").

My chat window doesnt have any tabs above the chat window.

How would I set things up to roll a character ability, with the system automatically dropping the lowest die roll? I can manually do it, but having the system manage it in the dice results within the chat window would be sweet for sure!

There's an extension that does it. Not sure if it works for 5e.

You were probably watching a video of the manage character. When you start FG click on manage character and you'll see the options there to roll x dice and drop y.

That feature is only available during "manage characters". To use it during game play, you need to install the extension (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?22637-DMFirmy-s-Drop-Lowest-Extension) (the author claims that it works with 5E).

This is the extension JohnD was talking about: DMFirmy's Drop Lowest Extension (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?22637-DMFirmy-s-Drop-Lowest-Extension). It is a coreRPG extension, so it *should* work with any coreRPG based rulesets (ie. Pathfinder, 3.5, 4 and 5e). Might be worth a look.

You know what they say, great minds think alike.

But more than likely I didn't read your post when I posted my link.
