View Full Version : Renaming maps?

Hi all.
Is there a way to rename maps in the published modules before sharing them with the PCs? When the PCs are exploring a cave to see what's what, it takes quite a bit of mystery out of the process when I say "Okay and now everyone please open up the map called Necromancer's Cave."
Thanks!

Right click on the name it in the images folder and select 'edit'. You can now change the name.

Also don't tell them to open the map - share it with them so it pops up on its own.

You can pre-share the maps, so it's already done and the players will have to open it themselves. Or even if you "live share" it, if a player joins the session late (or disconnects then rejoins) she'll have to open it manually too.
But I'm from the IRC era where forcibly opening a new window on someone else's client was considered extremely rude. :)

Whichever method you use to share the map it will still be in their images folder under the name it was given before sharing. So the only way to 'hide' the name is to rename it.

Once the map is shared and the player's tokens are placed on the map, the players can go straight to the map by double clicking the token on their player sheets - it will open whatever map their token is on. This is very useful for players joining late, or if you ended last session in the middle of combat. The GM can do the same thing by double clicking a token on the combat tracker (and this will also center the map on that token - useful if the GM doesn't immediately see the token during combat, double clicking it will adjust the map so that the token is in the center).

Also, don't forget to rename those tokens. Once you make a creature visible with the token, a player can go in their token box and navigate to the campaign to see the name of the token. (Not really sure why players have a token box anyway since I've never seen a situation where a GM asked the players to grab a shared token.)
