Links Between Modules

So as I'm working on my Undermountain modules, I'm creating one module for each level, but I want to put some links in one module that link to another module, i.e. to be able to link in a story for a stair entry where the stair emerges on another level.

Is this as simple as dragging a link from the open level one module into the story entry in level two? What about when I export level two to a module? Will those links remain intact?

As long as both modules are open then the links will work. It's the same as the links made to, for example, the character sheet from the PHB.
