With a little tinkering, Buck Rogers XXVc could run in OSRIC or Labyrinth Lord.

Technically you can go into space in a Shadowrun game. Almost nobody ever seems to, though. I've never seen a DM actually do it besides myself, even though the books mention it more than once, and Gibson has a several stories that touch on the theme.

One of my back burner projects is a space sim style RPG heavily inspired by stuff like EVE and the X series. If I get a little further along with it, I might test it on FG some day. I've ranted a few times about the idea of an RPG built from scratch for the online environment rather than the tabletop one, might as well put my money (or at least creative energy) where my mouth is.
