At present the campaign map I'm using for my guys looks like it has the measles- with pins everywhere (that the players can see- and click on for info), the guys in-game generally have to hover over half a dozen of them until they find the one that they want- is there a way of entering text onto the map- that stays there between sessions, just so that I can name the places that they see on the map. Or else make it so the pins that I have tagged that the guys can see display their names at all times?

Just loving FG atm (for the last year)- in the sweet spot, our game is here-

Nope. Alternative options discussed here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?23694-Adding-text-to-a-map&p=205933&viewfull=1#post205933

If you really want to add text you could open the image file in a graphics app, add the text, and save. Then re-open and re-share (or do it outside of the game). As long as the image filename and dimensions stay the same then FG will load it and keep links etc. as before.

You could also make text tokens with background transparency using gimp or photoshop. I did that in my short-lived CotCT game to add locations to the city map as they were discovered. This works ok for a large scale map that doesn't normally have lots of tokens (like a tactical combat map would), but it is probably more work than what you were hoping for.

If you have tooltips inabled in your options the players can hover over the pin (Created from notes) with ther mouse and the Title of the pin will pop up as a tooltip. Although, they have to pause over each pin for a sec for it come up, but might make things a little easier.

PS I myself (as a GM) use pins this way on doors and stuff to remind me (just hovering over them) of DC to disarm and stuff. So the Pin note itself have no or very little text in it. But the Title of the Note Pin is DISARM DC:17, DECTECT DC:15, DOOR HP: 32

This gives me the idea to create a transparent version of "You're all gonna die!" and drop it on a map while I'm DMing. ThanX for the inspiration FG forum people!

Muhuhahahaaaaaaaa...

This is what I do at the moment- tooltip hover etc, it's just that on the campaign map it's getting rather clutered as they have made lots of discovereies- hence lots of pins in a small space (and players with issues with glidepads not being able to zoom in or out).

I like the idea of creating text tokens- I think I'll put that to the test.
