We just recently had our campaign of over 6 months show up blank when started. We've tried restoring the db.xml by renaming the latest saved db.xml file, but it still comes up with no information in PCs, images, story etc. So essentially everyone's work for over 6 months is gone. How can we get it back?

It's a 5e campaign.

If the saved db files don't have the details in then there's really not much you can do. Unless you have a backup somewhere?

What dates do the various db files have in the campaign directory and what size are they? i.e. when was the last time there was a db file that was a decent size?

Were you storing it in a cloud location, like Drive or Dropbox? If so, a) don't do that there are lots of reports of the campaign corrupting. And b) you might be able to go online to the web interface and see if it will let you go back up the change list.

I strongly recommend that GMs create a zip of their campaign folder either before or after every session (including GM prep sessions).
Losing a whole bunch of work can really suck.
The players should be able to obtain their characters locally via Manage Characters and export them and email them to you.
That will avoid a chunk of the heartache/loss but obviously all your work is a different story.
