I stumbled across this blog form 2011 about using PUTTY to tunnel through firewalls & possibly a solution to some regional issues.

This requires you to have a VPS or other (typically linux) computer on the internet that can accept connections on tcp1802 to work.
I have set this up as a proof of concept and had GMs connected using tcp1802, tcp1900 and tcp1901 - basically setting it up as a multiuser server but each GM has their own unique port.
This would work much more friendly if the alias control on the FG client and GM had the ability to set the port as well.
