Hi everyone!

I purchased FG a few weeks ago with the intention of converting an AP I own in hard copy into a virtual game for a few friends. Is there some sort of step by step guide that someone can point me to on how to go about doing this? As I said, I'm new to FG so I don't have a lot of experience in how to set things up so the more detailed the explanation the better! Or, even better, is there some way I can show proof of ownership for the products I own and get files or something that someone else has already done?

Any advice is appreciated!

There are a few videos available out there on how to do what you are asking. The wiki has the videos (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Videos) that you can watch, otherwise, I think Dulux-Oz still has them on his channel on youtube. Trenloe also has a document (I can't seem to find my copy) that does a step by step for converting modules.

The only way we are able to share files is if we have proof of purchase and the files are for PFS use. Aside from that, there are no legal ways of sharing specific adventure modules.

Realistically if you are using Voice then you need to do the following:

1. Extract the images from the PDF
2. Scale the maps - try to stick to a set scale eg 50px/5' square
3. Enter any monsters/npcs that are not in the various modules. There is a PF Creature Parser.
4. Create the Encounters - make sure you get this right.
5. You might setup traps as NPCs.

Everything else - do it like you would around the table. Read/paraphrase the pdf descriptions.

Info here, including the doc mentioned above: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?17108-Steps-to-create-your-PFS-scenario-in-Fantasy-Grounds

You'll find the creature parser especially useful.

I recommend purchasing the FG Advanced Bestiary for its NPC factory application. It's extra money but allows cut-and-paste importing of NPCs from PDFs. As a bonus you'll get the bestiary templates for quickly beefing up a monster or NPC.

In a similar vein, the Pathfinder creature parser is a great help: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?20522-Pathfinder-Creature-Parser-V2-Beta-Version It has more import functionality than the advanced bestiary import facility, but isn't built into the FG interface.

I have used the creature parser and have found that it does work very well. Since I'm converting an AP, I'll compare this a bit more with the Adv Bestiary import function over the next couple of weeks to see what extra details it does a better job with. Since the creature parser works outside of FG, it means that I have to spend extra time messing around with exporting to a separate file and then importing into FG, but if it does a better job with accurately translating the PDF, then I may start using Creature Parser more!

Thanks Trenloe,
J.
