Just picked up the SW Fantasy Companion through the store and d/l through Steam. Is the module itself in need of an update?

For SW you also need to buy the base system I believe.

weird. If you select races directly from the library menu they appear ok though

edit....I was looking in the wrong spot. For some reason in the xml when it links down from the character area to the races it isn't picking up the "ul" tag

Found the problem: the "ul" element is looking for a nested "text" not "description"
The first attached image is at my full resolution 3840x1080. Right side is the downloaded Fantasy Companion, the left is my modification to test. I did two things - first changed the nested tag as above - only for the dwarf. Second took out the client.xml file in mine. Not actually sure it had any effect.
Second image shows the dwarf entry in game working correctly.

I think I created that module but I seem to not have a copy any more
If Doug/John can send me a copy I'll take a look and fix it...

Kevin, check your bitbucket. The module is there since I updated it last year.

You'll have to send me the url, seemed to have lost that one from Source Tree :(
I have found a copy from when I did have the source dated 18/05/2015
That seems to fix the issues and makes races drag and drop-able unto the character sheet.
Will copy over to Doug.

Downloaded and checked. Still doesn't open up the race info from the character screen...on the list itself in xml it still uses the "description" element.

Fixed
You should be able to find the repository when you login into bitbucket website, but I can also share you the link. Latest update was made by me 2015-10-22. Hopefully all fixed are done to that version

The problem shown above was still in that version (this was due to me using inlineindex rather than index in the type).

Just thought of something else. If I edit the treasure tables to rollable for myself, will steam try to update and "fix" it?

No, it will be altered for your campaign (unless you revert any changes). If you start a new campaign it will use the updated changes from the developer though.

Good to know, thanks.

Depend where you do the editing. If you edit the base module and use the same name, then it will be overwritten by FG updates.

If you do update it, send me a copy and I'll make it part of the official version :)

I suddenly seem to have a whole bunch of projects in my schedule....and every single one of them self-imposed. Keeps me from going stir crazy though so I don't mind.

It gives me something to do, and I am not trying to more than one at a time. If I spent less time playing a couple other games on Steam I would have had Weird Wars Rome done already. The only reason I stumbled across the problems with the Fantasy Companion is cause I am thinking of using SW for my home brew world, so I wanted to take a look at it.
At some point in the next month or so I will sit down and update the tables so they are rollable then send it over to Doswelk to update.

Updating this thread, the problem is a bit more widespread - but I also stumbled across a likely reason and solution. The gear table in the Deluxe Player Guide is the same as the Fantasy Companion in the screen shot from my OP. Both Deadlands Players Guide and the Weird Wars Rome player guide I just completed look like the first screen shot attached in this thread - we both did the same thing - dropped the offending "Notes" column and called it a day.
Screenshot number 2 shows why the "notes" column is being cut off the way it is in the SWPG and was in the Fantasy Companion. At one point FG and the schema/templates for SW wanted that information in this particular format. Somewhere along the way that changed.
Fixing the issues seen in both the original Fantasy Companion screenshot and the DLR screenshot in this post is a two step process. First change what the XML in the file says to what I show in screenshot 3, then in the item section itself change the "Notes" lines to show what I have in screenshot 4.
I have changed my copy of the SW Player Guide if the powers that be need it to verify.
I will also need to update the WWR Player Guide I submitted.
