Hey all!
I want to be absolutely sure before I go buying any mapping software; will the unity build have the same kind of support that we now have for importing images to use as maps? I know the unity build will have 3d mapping capability, and that's fine, but I only intend to use the 3D portion when it's required. Things like overworld maps don't need to be 3d, obviously :-)
In addition, will the dynamic lighting system let us trace out the walls like Roll20 does, so we can use LOS on 2d maps too?
Thanks in advance!

The devs have stated that the main goal with the base Unity build is to be backwards compatible with current products and existing GMs campaigns. So, yes, there will be at least the same support for importing maps as there is now.

Definitely expect hey will keep a baseline map import thing. Was one of the premier selling features for me.
I have been buying adventure modules and plan to keep going but when I create my own, I rarely do anything more than line/graph drawings. Therefore the ability to search the net for usable pictures I can teas form into an encounter map and lay a grid on it... That's gold :)

I had been buying adventure modules myself, but I do find that some of them are a little too "on rails" for my liking. As a result, I now look at the main points of the adventure and spin the rest on my own.
Also, having all the 5e content myself plus a lot of mappacks, I find that I still don't have a lot of map types that I need. That's why I started looking at tools to help create maps.

and 3d maps will prolly keep you even tighter on those rails as it will be harder to make 3d maps in a hurry (at a guess... although I saw a seriously cool demo of walls being built almost on the fly...).
whilst many people really want that feature Im sure many will be using 2d maps for a long time yet.

Yeah, I think the 3D feature is a really great idea, I'm sure I'll be buying things with it in them and smiling with glee - but not likely to create anything other than proof of concept sadlittlemap.
