The target selection mode (see Targeting -> Targeting Mode here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Tokens#Targeting) doesn't add the targets to the combat tracker, so any attacks, saves, damage, etc. is not applied to the target/s selected using the area selection method of targeting.
