View Full Version : Damage dice that don't reroll on a critical hit

Is there an effect, or an expression within Fantasy Grounds that will tell the program not to roll a certain set of dice again when a critical strike is made?

For example, say I have a longsword (1d8 slashing), which also does extra damage (1d8 radiant) with each strike. I want a critical strike to allow the longsword damage to gain an extra die, but not the radiant damage to gain an extra die.

Something along the lines of 1d8 slashing + 1d8 radiant, !critical.

I know there are ways to do what I wish as separate rolls, but I'm trying to find if there's a way to do this all within a single damage roll.

Any help is appreciated.

Have fun.

The short answer is no. The rules for 5e are that all dice rolled for the damage on a critical hit is doubled, and that's how FG works too. You can add additional dice on a critical but you can't specify the type of damage that is done; the damage type follows the weapon damage type. So, the only way to achieve what you seek is to do it manually.
