LICENSE Ultimate
TIME: Sunday Evenings (EST) 17:00 - 20:00 to 20:30
FREQUENCY: 2 out of every 3 weeks. Third week is Standby so I won't promise on that, group might determine to try on those evenings, though possibility of last minute cancel. Generally not a problem though.
DURATION: Hopefully a long term campaign
START DATE: IN PROGRESS 4 or 5 sessions in
COMMUNICATIONS: VOIP and Text; text tends to be main for environmental descriptions and 'box text', most communication is done through VOIP clarification and nailing down particulars. I tend to forget to type stuff out and treat it more like being at an actual table by talking rather then typing.

# of Players: Currently 5; Looking for 1 player. Various RL changes have decreased players. Role needed: AoE/CONTROLLER, if not willing to play one please move along.
CAMPAIGN STYLE:Home Brew using DnD 5e.
GM STYLE: I work towards a balance of keeping focus on the plot I have developed but while not railroading the players on it. If you guys wander off, events will still happen if they are scheduled in plot. A balance of combat and roleplaying. I allow characters/players to attempt and possibly succeed at unexpected actions. I also try to keep a 'realistic' development to players actions, consequences to actions good and bad. Be a jerk and rumors spread, and you might be recognized and spurned; be altruistic and people will come to you for help, etc.
I also like to know goals/things players would like to do so I can work it in

DnD 5e: Eluvie (Fantasy, Homebrew) A broken world has portents of change coming. Last time such signs were seen the world was broken! Will Eluvie be healed or has the end days finally come? See group for more info on world, it is an ongoing process.

Since most so far seem to be interested in Eluvie I shall be elaborating on that setting, if you search the forums you might find a posting when I was looking for a group previously and no one seem interested in it.

I'd be interested in joining the Eluvie campaign. I've got 2 or 3 characters that need homes. They aren't fleshed out much because i they don't have a setting but they are good ideas. I wouldn't be able to make tomorrows session in any capacity other than text though :S

Alright got enough replies for a group, so to talk enough about Eluvie that you have an idea of whats going on.

CREATION STORY
It is said that humans are the oldest race, and unlike all others they have no known reason for their birth. However, at some point monsters and some of the monstrous races were created and overran humanity, enslaving them. Dwarves were created to help humans free themselves and after beating back the goblins, orcs, trolls and other similar races. When human culture started to mimic Dwarven too much Halflings were created to provide balance, when the next rise of Monsters came the world was devastated leading to the birth of Gnomes. It is said that the ancestors of the Elves were directed to this world to assist by their gods and when their work was done the majority returned there. And so the Monsters rose and attacked, the Civilized races fought them back and a new race was born to help bring balance back to the world. Until this last time.....

THE BREAKING OF THE WORLD
What is believed to be several centuries ago, though due to the loss of records, the chaos prevalent at the time, and the backlash of that Great Working caused Time to become a little disrupted it is hard to pin an exact date. Portents of the return of the Monstrous Races to bring war and destruction lead to Humanities leaders deciding to try and prevent it by attacking first. The exact details of what they did is largely unknown, but the after-effects were felt the world over. The Monstrous races and most of their ilk were gone, but soon the Lowlands of the world were lost as well. Magic, Space, Time; all of them were becoming more and more distorted as time passed it eventually it was realized that anything below a certain elevation was becoming too dangerous for everyday life.

This lead to another and the last Great Working and the migration of those who could to the Highlands. Seven human cities were torn from the earth and lifted aloft, each following their own looping path. Eventually methods were made so they could trade and communicate with the Highlands. For all the rest of those who lived in the Lowlands, they had to seek shelter in the Highlands or risk their lives in the Lowlands. The actions by Human leaders and the exodus both lead to strained relationships, this has settled down since then but can still flare up.

IMPORTANT THINGS:
Dragons are things of legend, no one has seen or heard from any as far as can be remembered. Dragonborn are the only supposed evidence of their existence; all Dragonborn suffer from the Urge, that there is something they need to do but don't know what it is and no rumors speak of any succeeding. This leads to all Dragonborn at one time or another in their lives to go adventuring and to try and find whatever it is they are seeking.

Tieflings are generally considered a subset of humanity as they are humanish looking and seem to lack a racial inclination like the others. They ancestors are largely results from periods of the Monstrous Wars. Occasionally they will pop up unexpected in a family. Tieflings tend to be drawn towards magic.

The Gods are absent, calling upon their powers work. But all that has been found out is that there is something called the Compact that prevents them from acting upon the world.

Living between the Highlands (above approx. 1,500 feet and Lowlands (approx 1,000 feet and below) is considered dangerous, but becoming more neccessary. Living in the lowlands is considered foolhardy and suicidal.

While very low level magic is common, no great Wizards or Magics have been seen since the Last Great Working. Why this is so is mostly up to conjecture and rumor.

Everybody has some kind of gift of Magic, whether it is simply a skill they are preternaturally good at or some minor ability. It is considered inappropriate to ask a stranger what their gift is, though it isn't hidden either. It is generally believed that a gift represents a direction their life will head in, those with the ability to repair or craft generally become crafts(wo)men. Those with more violent gifts are believed to lead more dangerous lifestyles.

CHARACTER STUFF
Every character will start with either 1 0-level power OR a +2 bonus to one skill. Remember previous statement, if known will cause preconceptions in peoples minds.

Normal character creation otherwise, if would like something besides base races please ask.

STARTING PREMISE
You, yes you, have hired on as a guard in a trade caravan traveling across the mountains to the city of Grey Bluff where the floating city of Falisha will soon be arriving. Danger is not expected to be high as this is a well known route but there are two known problem areas. The first is the Endless Valley, the second is through an area frequently infested with goblins and worse.

Terrific. Are we going to start today or next Sunday? Are starting at 1st level? Wasn't sure based on the statement about starting with a 0 level power or +2 to 1 skill.

With the short notice & immediate start, I didn't figure it would be a full session tonight. Maybe an hour or so to test connect, meet & greet, square away character details, Q&A, and settle on the schedule moving forward. That along the lines with what you've all got in mind for this evening?

That and depending on people and when ready, maybe get started with first scene.

Is this a different game or are you restarting the other game?

If it's the same game, my character can do AoE fairly well already, and will be going melee at around level 4, we need another?

Mgrancey

Same game, which is why it was AoE and/or Controller. With you and paly we are picking up, we will have high damage; we have some AoE from Cleric and you; Warlock and you cover Arcane role; Cleric and Paly covers Healing and Divine. So only kind weak spot is maybe Social or Sneaky areas, not sure with out looking at all characters.

I am interested in joining if you still need 1. I am most interested in a bard/warlock hybrid char that would have some control and some aoe control as levels go up. Also some possibility of aoe damage later if needed. Additionally the character will have good communication skills and some stealthyness.

I would also be interested in a necromancer if your campaign world/party accepts controlled undead as not being innately evil and must be destroyed.

As a warning we have a fiendish warlock already and a Tempest Cleric.

Life, Death, and Undeath are complicated and not yet codified but roughly speaking it would depend on how you mean to perform the necromancy is important.

Death and afterwards is complicated as you have 3 factors to be resolved. The dead are judged and guided by O'beren, if not taken anywhere in particular: hell or if the personal was exceptional they might be given the chance to become a servant of their patron diety, otherwise they go to the Shadowfel to rest and are protected by Shadar. Followers of either O'beren or Shadar may summon souls that are willing or those undergoing minor punishment and are the only culturally accepted even is disturbing method. Attitude towards it is that necromancy is necessary but distasteful as good necromancers are specialists in helping souls move on, performing final rights, and dealing with the lost or corrupted souls (undead).

However, deals can be made, souls can be stolen or captured, ghosts and such can be taken by force. You could be wizard but would fall in a grey area where you would be watched, this route would have you making deals with people before they die that they would serve at you will for a period of time (think indentured servitude). Alternately you can be wizard and steal, entrap, etc but would be an evil necromancer. There is a specific reason about why you would be unable to strike a deal with O'beren or Shadar previously, though I suppose an Acolyte background would bypass that for a wizard or sorcerer.

It would be up to the group on what they would rather me play. The level 2 warlock/rest bard gives a lot of options and control, as well as social skills. It also has backup healing and damage reduction, and great spell choice at the later levels.

The necromancer sounds like it could be fun to play in your game world, though I don't really have interest in playing the Evil kind. I would be fine with taking Acolyte to allow a deal with Shadar or O'beren or to work it the hard way and make agreements with people to have them serve me. I do question how that plays with the level 14 ability to control an undead creature, though? I guess it kind of falls in it's own area, similar to how suggestion or dominate work, they aren't really good/evil/otherwise, just spells or abilities to be used like any other?
My only concern with the necromancer is the minions themselves. By nature of the character you would want a good 3/6/9 minions to serve you in battle and that can bog the game down but if you don't have the minions it defeats the purpose of playing the necromancer. One of the big weaknesses in 5e, in my opinion, is no templates to have fewer, stronger, creatures. But that's also up to you and the group, if you guys are ok with it cool by me, if not the bard/warlock would probably be a better option, if neither of those work for the group, I understand and wish you guys good luck going forward.
