I'm curious what this actually does. I find that when I enable it on Mac or Linux machines my CPU usage goes crazy (40-80% on my old-ish laptop), even on just the starting screen before selecting a campaign. Turning it off has so far not had any adverse effects and reduces the CPU back down under 5%.

FG currently attempts to only render the portions of the desktop that have been modified since the last frame displayed.

The compatibility flag forces the client to render the entire desktop every frame. This flag is not always needed, but has come up in certain situations on Mac/Linux where the graphics don't get redrawn correctly when moving the mouse or interacting with the desktop.

Bottom line, if you're not having any graphics redraw problems, you don't need it.

Cheers,
