Is there a PFS coordinator nominated for this FG-Con? Asking because previously we had suggested time slots to use when putting in games.

Is there a PFS coordinator nominated for this FG-Con? Asking because previously we had suggested time slots to use when putting in games.
No one has volunteered to take on the PFS coordinator tasks, based off the emails I sent out a few weeks ago.

I'll make a post over the next couple of days recommending for PFS the 5 hour slots we used previously, but it will be entirely up to each individual PFS GM if they want to adhere to that. There'll be no Paizo support for FG Con 8.

PFS games are perfect for playing at Conventions - they are high quality adventures and they are designed to play in a specific time window so even though Trenloe isnt coordinating (he will be away for FG Con completely) we hope you will still run PFS!

The event adding page does not read your profile timezone – all times on the event adding page are UTC 0. Use the UTC 0 times I list below for adding your game:

Slot #1. UTC 0: 07:00 to 12:00 (UK 8am –> 1pm. US Eastern 3am –> 8am. US Western 12am -> 5am. Australian EST 5pm –> 10pm.) Time and Date link
Break.
Slot #2. UTC 0: 13:00 to 18:00. (UK 2pm –> 7pm. US Eastern 9am –> 2pm. US Western 6am -> 11am. Australian AEST 11pm –> 4am.) Time and Date Link
Break.
Slot #3. UTC 0: 19:00 – 00:00 (next day). (UK 8pm –> 1am. US Eastern 3pm –> 8pm. US Western 12pm -> 5pm. Australian AEST 5am –> 10am.) Time and Date Link
Break.
Slot #4. UTC 0: 01:00 to 06:00. (UK 2am –> 7am. US Eastern 9pm –> 2am. US Western 6pm -> 11pm. Australian AEST 11am –> 4pm.) Time and Date Link

Don’t worry if there are already other PFS games in your preferred time slot, we usually run with 4 PFS events in the popular time slots.

Okay, whichever admin previews the submissions for FG-Con, with my well known technical expertise, though I knew the time both in GMT and my own zone without checking, whenever I checked preview it wasn't reflecting what I had entered. I tried again, but brain glitch, hit submit for review. Most of the information was already there except the max players, 6, the time should be 01:00-05:00 GMT on Saturday the tenth which would make it 20:00-0:00 Friday the 9th in my time zone EST. Oops sorry guys, just let me know what I need to do to fix it. Thanks.
Ha I see part of my problem isn't even technical simple misread of calendar dates, the submit for review before I discovered it is the only problem. Never ever work stuff out like this before the first pot of coffee is done.

Woohoo! I'm back baby! I will run my Saturday game, I might throw in a Sunday game closer to the time, see how my work stacks up :)

The Tears of the Dragon

Ruleset: D&D 5e

A war fought by dragons is being waged in the skies overhead. The forces for good and evil have aligned against one another, the fight has been long and hard. But the war has reached a turning point: the gold dragon Crysothiliax, has recently stolen a key Artifact from the enemy. Alas, the Hero was brought down in an epic battle with the huge red dragon Regaxtherios somewhere South of you, it is presumed both dragons plummeted to their doom. Your mission is urgent and vital. Retrieve the Artifact from the crash site and return it to safety. But you must avoid the agents of the enemy at all costs. The very fate of the realms could be at stake!

Play is planned for 3 hours but booked for 4 to ensure time to complete.

This is a 1st level adventure. Characters will be provided.

Running a progressive All Flesh Must Be Eaten game that starts on Day1 (named Learn to Fear Day1) on Friday, moving to Learn to Fear Day2 on Saturday, same time and Learn to Fear Day3 on Sunday same time.14 Pre-gen characters to pick from. Using Corerpg in FG. Best to have a pregame play dialogue before the game on Friday. Not necessary for Saturday or Sunday. Ultimate license.

But we'd recommend adding your event before then. The later you leave it, the less chance you have to fill your game - especially if you're planning something that isn't "mainstream". Having said that, there always seem to be people who hear about FG Con at the last moment and come looking for a game. If you're the type of person who doesn't mind last minute "will I get enough players or not" antics then that's fine, but I think most of us like to know a few days ahead if our game will run. So - recommendation: enter your event on the FG Con website as soon as you're able.

I take it that "mainstream" in this context means "Pathfinder or DND"? ;)

Yes, I plan to register my non-mainstream Fate Core adaptation of a Dresden Files RPG sample adventure in the next week or so. I'm building it out now, impressed with how well-oiled the Fate Core rules are.

I'm still learning the ins and outs of FG because I'm a slow learner, my daughter is graduating soon, work won't let me just have fun time 24/7 and I'm a slow learner (yes, that needs to be in there twice). Well met elefernex!

You need to register an account first - https://www.fg-con.com/ and then Login->Register. Once you have confirmed your account (check spam as it sometimes ends up there) you will be able to set your Timezone and add a new Event. Use the Guides there for adding the event. For one shots - especially for one with complex characters like MM you should have pre-gens and a shortish story that could be finished in 3-4 hours or 5 hours max or one that you can run in 2 sessions. Typically (and I havent played MM) you should only plan for 2 or 3 combat encounters or it wont be able to be completed in time.
You can email [email protected] if you need any specific help.

Just to be clear, the FG Con website will convert times for players if they set their time zone in their profile.

When GMs enter events, they must use GMT (UTC 0) time zone to enter their events. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) is 4 hours behind GMT at the time of the convention, so enter your times 4 hours later than you'll actually be running in your time zone.

Illness, accidents and changing work demands knock out a few GMs and there will be a few games that dont make the required numbers.

Hi Black Hammer and Skellan, April 4 is the recommended latest date. The later you leave it the less likely you are to attract enough players but in saying that you can post it up anytime you like.
The later you leave it I would check out the other sessions running and look for a period where all the other games are full or nearly so, or where there are not many games running.
Additionally a 5e or PFS game will likely fill up more easily than some other systems.

The more a GM advertises his/her game the more likely it is to fill up too.

Eh, I have no particular interest in 5E or Pathfinder, and certainly none in PFS organized stuff. Just got an email yesterday that I might be getting some new Delta Green stuff from Arc Dream, and could slap something together for that. I noticed you already have a ToC game up there, though, and seems like there's barely enough interest in Cthulhu games on FG to get even one of those going.

Im not suggesting you run anything in particular. We encourage GMs to run what they want to run. I run things I want to run and I also make sure that I advertise them wherever I can - not just here - to make sure I get enough numbers. I run Dungeon World, Trail of Cthulhu, Call of Cthulhu, Maelstrom RPG, Castles & Crusades. We had 7 Cthulhu games at FG Con 7 and all went ahead IIRC. I advertise everyones games on various forums - enworld, rpgnet, pinnacle, trolllords, penandpapergamers, G+ etc.

And to add to damned's point, player sign-ups have been open now for only about a day and a half with three weeks to go before FG Con actually starts.

So it's premature to already assume that some of the games are short on players. Between now and the start of the con, more people will join and some will drop.

I say don't be discouraged so early on. If you want to GM something, then sign up for whatever you like! (personally, I'm always hoping for more sci-fi games) And as damned said, advertise it... I believe that'll make a huge difference.

There were 116 signups in the first 24 hours and I hadnt actually announced that they were open - that is largely from people who were awaiting the 17th and/or word of mouth. Im sending a new newsletter over the weekend to just over 900 registered users on FG Con. ne place I dont advertise is Facebook - thats just beacuse Im not at all active on FB. The more people spreading the word and bumping up other peoples posts the more effective it is. If active players and GMs here can do some FB posts that would be helpful :)

If anyone has any questions or wants to discuss anything in private send me a PM and we can chat.

Yup, I couldn't get in any "regular" AL game of level 1. Only one I can make was on Fri night 9PM EST since I don't get home on commute before 7:30pm.

I did sign up for Zac ;) breakfast (although rumor has it I will be going hungry :( ).
And I put in a pending for Suits in the Mist the Ravenloft AL. But not sure what I need to do ahead. Will hop over to AL site tomorrow to check if "having valid AL char" means just creating inside FG a character according to that season's rules pDF or if I have to register it somewhere (I have only a dci, have never used it)

K thanks, so it is just creating it in my FG ready to go. I wondered if "valid" meant "built according to the rules in PDF and pre-uploaded to some Adventurers League registry under my DCI before I can use that character" (all in one breath, I might add!)

I just want to say... THANK YOU to everyone that is involved in any way with FG Con 8. Whether you are a GM, a player or helping with the organisation and admin or you just told a friend or stranger about it.
We have just over 250 bookings in the 7 days since registration opened!
There is still plenty of time to add some more games and to register to play in something different.

We got some GURPS, Call of Cthulhu, 5e, Savage Worlds, Fate, DCC RPG, Drakar och Demoner and Pathfinder games that want some more players.
Go try something different and meet some new people!

Here are the Fate Core sessions:

Tutorial for players brand new to Fate (https://www.fg-con.com/events/fate-core-tutorial-prequel-to-night-fears/), no prior experience required (doubling as a prequel to the next session); and
The introductory one-shot scenario, Night Fears (https://www.fg-con.com/events/fate-core-night-fears/), designed for beginning players--and those who enjoy a strong-RP game.

I'm excited to play both these sessions and have found, in preparing for them, that Fate Core's strengths really shine in character-driven narrative and narrative-driven plots. It's deepening my understanding of RP in RPGs, and promise to be interesting runs.

Not anymore. People without a license wanting to join a game with the host having a Full license should take advantage of the free 30 day trial.

I just found about all this FG CON thing and it sounds really interesting. Can someone help me with this?

1.- I went to the page (FG CON) and register over there.
2.- They gave me a weird password and I log in
3.- I revised the events on the ruleset, time and day I can/want to play
4.- Now, how do I sign in as a player? Just comment?

Thanks all!

Go to the event list, find an event you'd like to book and then click on 'book'. At the next screen select the number of places you want to book (which should be one by default) and then click on 'confirm booking'

I signed up for Breakfast-Interruptus and a Suits in the Mist (I keep thinking of Gorillas...)
I updated my install of TS3 and tested against the FG server.

I tested an internal Skype internally, but while I thought I recall Skype being mentioned, I didn't see any info there.

Will there be video for these games (I care neither way, just trying to prep) - if so, which apps should I have GTG and do I need to pre-contact up to make the connection on Game Day(s)?

The GM will typically make contact with you however this close to the Con you may have missed their email.
Join the ts.fg-con.com teamspeak server 15mins before Game time and look for the Game or GM name in the FG Con channel.

Varsuuk - there are a number of players in LFG most of the time. If you are short players at all encourage your GM to speak with the players in that channel. I know there are some requirements for ALO (like a DCI) but its always worth a shot if you are short by a player!

Ya, doesn't look good - it's the DM that's not here (don't know if any others here due to not knowing their TS names) but I see that the event is now no longer on the FG list (I checked prior to 9PM so it isn't that) :(

DDEX-03-14 9PM EST (I checked prior to 9PM, it went away before that so maybe the cron job is a little before the event?)
HE was very helpful in answering questions and bringing in alternates and communicating - up until last night. Not sure what happened, but his not responding to emails was totally unlike his behaviour (for you Z ;P) over the last week. So probably something happened.

The other DM mischeduled. It seems he has issues with the TimeZone choices and never checked the time of his own event after making it. He told me when I saw his name and asked for server info that you are 7 hours early... I wasn't. Was a surprise to him. This was Suits in the Mists at 15:00 EST.
