So backpeddling in my campaign. We started with LMoP and was using a little homebrew adventures working for Gundren. Bought the book on Swordcoast Adventures. Wasn't real impressed.It didn't give me the sense or understanding that I was looking for. Found Wiki for one of the video games and have been watching a YouTube mix on playing the game. Just found the old Volo's Guides in PDF. I am working my way slowly through the Drizzit books to read Gauntlgrym.

Can any one else suggest any reference material? I have set the game just after the cataclysm of Mount Hotenow and before the arrival of Lord Neverember.

You're probably already looking at the best stuff. I might suggest looking up history of the NWN and NWN 2 games, but I don't know if they are considered canon or not.

I think all of that will have been covered in detail in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guides for 3.5 and 4e. But all you really need to know is probably in SCAG. I presume you have also seen this (https://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:History).

What do you think of "Ed Greenwood Presents Elminster's Forgotten Realms: A Dungeons & Dragons Supplement?" I know it's the whole magilla but I'm looking for flavor more than stats.

Thank you Zacchaeus! No, I was not aware of https://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:History but I am now . Much thanks. Discovered 4e Never Winter Campaign Realms Guide in a pdf. Will go a long way to help straighten up the campaign.
