Make sure that your
C:\programData\Fantasy Grounds folder has the right permissions.
Give Users the Write and Modify permissions.
Remove all the DLC from that folder (dont delete your saved campaigns etc - just the DLC content).
Check that Norton is not bloking the FGUpdater - same goes for whatever AV you are using.
Make sure that if you are on wireless that your connection is good. If you are getting packet loss it can cause this.

No worries.
You are looking in the Program file location rather than the Data location.
If you launch the Settings it will show you the path for both of these locations.
You can also click the folder icon on the main splash screen (I think that still works on the Mac)
On a Mac these paths are buried quite deep due to the wineskin wrapping....

Have you put your licence key in the settings screen before doing an update?

Not having the license key is the issue.
Go to the FG store and click the "order history" link in the top right, then open the order entry where you bought the licence, the key will be there.

If you bought on Steam Steam will have a copy. If you bought here Go to Store and Order History and you will find you details there.

So the path should be C:\ProgramData\Fantasy Grounds or type in %appdata% in the Explorer Search bar and either locate or make a Fantasy Grounds folder and copy that whole path into the Data folder section.
It will look something like this: C:\Users\damned\AppData\Roaming\Fantasy Grounds
