Starting character variations?

Had a pickup game with 27 pts. buy and free feat. Anyone else do this?

Any other variations out there?

People show up and I hit them with a Sphere of Super Annihilation. I enjoy it.

I assume you already know about the roll 4d6 drop lowest for each attribute, or standard array.

The one free feat is something I first thought was overpowered, but have since decided I like the idea more and more. Gives everyone a little something something at the start so they don't feel like the typical sh*tfarmers that level 1s can feel like. I usually pair it with starting HP of a Max Hit Die and the Constitution score

As the player, it gave me incentive to go through all the rules and start my planning. It was fun.

Anyone think it's over powered?

If characters are more powerful inevitably they run into more powerful opposition :)
