I put this together a little while ago, but through an oversight, it was getting installed into the Data directory. It is only going out to new installs as well. To manually install it, you can download the link here:
https://www.fantasygrounds.com/filelibrary/5ESampleCampaign.zip

Unzip that into a new folder under your campaigns folder. This should then give you a new option when you go to Load Campaign.

Pretty nice Doug. It would be nice to have some of that stuff in a module instead (I guess anyone could just export what they want from that campaign into a module now that I think of it). For instance, all of those nice tutorial images would be nice to load into any campaign where you're GMing for new players.

Well now... this just makes the last two and a half weeks worth of work on creating an "Introduction and Character Creation" module pointless. :D

This is absolutely amazing Doug!

You have my sincerest thanks a thousand times over,

Well I feel kind of bad, then because I tried to push it out about 2 weeks ago but I accidentally pushed it to Core instead of Data, so it wasn't even getting picked up for new installs. :(

I'm glad that you like it though. It's probably long overdue.

I unzipped it into my campaign folder but still not seeing it when I try to load campaign. :(

It needs to be unzipped into a folder within your campaigns folder.

The db.xml file should be located at a file location like the one below, or it won't be recognized.
<FG Data Folder>/campaigns/5E Sample Campaign/db.xml

That is how it shows up.

Campaigns/5E sample campaign inside that is folders: images, moduledb, portraits, usersettings, then files campaign, campaignregistry.lus, chatlog, db, extensionstate, modulestate, windowstate.

Thanks for the help

Click on the folder icon on the launch screen to ensure that the FG data folder being looked at by the running version of FG is where you expect it to be, and contains the campaign.

Also, you do need to restart FG to see new campaigns, just in case you didn't already do that.

Thanks for all the help. I just found out the spot where FG saves my campaigns isn't with the main FG folder. Working now

does anybody know how 5e characters are tracked through paizo or how chronicle sheets are done for this new edition like pathfinder?

That might be a question more suited to this (https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?95-D-amp-D-Adventurer-s-League-Games) forum.

Can you open the campaign with the demo version?

March 6th, 2016, 00:59
Hi Szabtom yes you should be able to. The Demo still includes the ruleset and the sample campaign (I believe) but none of the Basic or SRD data.

What is the difference between "Basic" and SRD data modules? I ask because I have never compared them. When I bought the Ultimate version, I also got PHB and MM a little later the DMG a bit after it was added.

On related note, is it possible to "hide" built in modules? I mean if any of those are not just in modules dir (I assume some or all are in the encrypted dat file - I'm on iPad in bad now...)

The Basic Rules were released around the time of the PHB/MM as a free PDF. It has been added to a few times.
It contains 4 core classes thru to level 20 and a stack of monsters and spells etc.

The SRD doesnt have as much detail on the 4 classes but has some detail on all the classes.

Just dont activate the modules you dont want to use. You cant remove/delete them.

Thanks to Mask_of_winter, I got on this thread.
this is what Im looking for ;o) its "Great Tutorial". Explaining everything simply and clearly.
And it will be good if every NEW player knows about this ddavison's project New 5E Sample Campaign / Tutorial Available and mandatory complete it.
Is hard make this thread more visible or still at the TOP of 5E forums marked with different color, make it this way visible for every new peoples? Because contains all necesarry mechanics and conditions which all players must know before sending their invitations to journeys.

Really BIG, BIG THANKs for it boys.

EDITed: this thread actually IS at the TOP :o (marked as STICKY) I attented it through link only so does not see it is marked way as I described higher :)

Does this tutorial campaign include how to go about leveling up a character? I understand that there is some automation included, but not how much or how to go about applying it.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if I covered that.

You just drag the class you want to take for the next level and drop it onto the class field again. It will add hit die and abilities appropriate to that level. If you have a choice of a new archetype, you will see an option presented to you.

Hello. Just got the whole D&D + Ultimate package from Steam during the Winter Sale. Been looking for any and all tutorials for DMing on FG. A lot of the threads say check out the sample campaign, and I have. My question, upon opening the sample campaign as the DM, where do I begin? I mean, what is the first step I should do? Is there any documentation about the sample campaign and how to go about learning from it? Like are there notes in the Sample Campaign itself I am missing that is supposed to tell me "open this file first, check these NPCs, use this map/encounter first, etc." or am I supposed to fiddle around with it?

Hi G0DL1K3D3V1L welcome.
Go to Story -> Tutorial -> 00 Welcome to Fantasy Grounds.
That will get you started and probably prompt a whole slew of questions.

I don't believe anything is missing. There are just some things my players were saying was incorrect as they went through it. If this is something that will be updated, I will ask my players to get a list together for you.

Yes, if there's things wrong please report them and I'll get them fixed.

Okay. The only thing I noticed was on 17-Parcel Window under Creating a Treasure Parcel it says to access it in the Items window and that button was taken out in an update and added to the sidebar. When I have time I will investigate further.

Hey folks. I'm in between campaigns at the moment. If there is anyone out there getting started who wants to spend time game prepping together, it is a great way to share ideas and learn. I'll just hover over your shoulder and help where I can. Shoot me a PM and we'll coordinate. Cheers!

I opened up my FG folder and do not see a campaign folder. Is this something that I need to create within the FG folder on my laptop?

Not sure how to upload modules onto FGC.

Is it just me, or 5E Sample campaign's folder and its subfolders are all empty in FGU (compared to FGC that has stuff in it)?
I've therefore download the .zip from this tread only to realize that it's last update is from 2016-01-15, which means that it didn't got made with FGU in mind, like no Line of Sight included, right? Is there other things that aren't there (that new GM shall know about)?

I believe there is currently an issue with the sample campaign in FGU. My understanding is you can copy the most recent version from FGC to FGU.
